No Longer Kicking the Can down the (country) road...

countrydirt posted 1/13/2021 05:49 AM

Well, like many on here, the actual divorce was a bit anti-climatic. The hearing with the magistrate judge was a telephone conference and lasted less than 10 minutes. The longest time was spent with the XW dithering about having back her old name.

I truly thought I would be sadder. Sure I cried a little, but not much. After it was done, I went to the gym and really worked my ass off. Fortunately, it was leg day, so getting to use the biggest muscles helped. One of the old broads, as I lovingly call the ladies my age in the class, commented that I was really working hard and I just smiled and told her what happened earlier in the day.

My former SIL called to ask how I was doing and I honestly told her that I was doing fine. I've known the SIL for almost as long as I knew her sister so we are and will remain friends. Her daughters and husband are pretty devastated about it.

On a more positive note, my adventure friend and I will be going to a hot springs tonight and having a little relaxation.

How are your sons doing with this revelation of your ex taking up with another?

And are you taking up any activities that will get you "social exposure?"

The boys/men seem to be doing okay. Youngest is here with me and is coping. Older two are far away, so a little more removed but they aren't necessarily happy about it.

I'm busier than ever getting out and making friends and trying to enjoy life. I have a couple of good friends who are taking care of me. My adventure friend and I continue to grow the relationship in fun and exciting ways with no rush and no pressure.

One week legally single and I have a funny feeling in my heart and mind. I'm happy. It's crazy to feel this way. I'm not giddy or anything like that, but maybe just happy and content. My adventure friend said it was nice to see me smile more than she ever has in the 6 months we've known each other. I'm talking to co-workers. I'm elbow bumping my students (hadn't seen them since before Thanksgiving).

And I just got news of a 2 hour weather delay for school! Bonus!! - at least not cancelled and moved to 'e-learning' which means no time off.

Ex came over to pick up a load of knick knacks. I helped her pack some things and put a few things in that she was trying to leave behind (I'm a stinker) It was the first time we had seen each other in probably 6 weeks. We spent some time just visiting about how things were going for each of us and she seemed somewhat surprised that I could honestly tell her I was happy. We still have this house to deal with so will be connected for a few more months and she still has a lot of shit here.

Well, in less than 25 days,I am happy to report that XW has very little space in my head. It does get better my friends, no matter how painful it seems at the time.
