Three times over a few weeks now, there has been a buzz in the house that sounds like a vibrating phone. My BS has heard it twice and I finally heard it this morning. It's loud enough that he and I both heard it, on two floors, me in our bedroom with the door shut.
He thinks it's a secret phone.
I'm obsessed with finding it.
Who the hell knows what it is but it is crazy making.
I'm going to interrogate the neighbors as soon as I can. We live in a duplex and we can hear them, sometimes. They used to have an alarm that would go off for HOURS!
How crazy fucked up is it that some random buzz can be such a huge setback.
My God infidelity is a motherfucker.
It's really messing us up, bad.
I'm not looking for advice really, We just need some prayers.
My BS left on a 5 day trip out of the country today.
I'm going to keep on like I am, doing the right things. Not doing anything i shouldn't be, and damn it I'm going to find the buzz.

Could it be one of the kid's toys? A smoke alarm? Sometimes door bells sound weird when they start to go out, maybe it's the neighbor's. Could you go over and ask if they hear it too?
We had a mysterious beep sound in our house a few weeks ago. It sounded like a phone going low on battery. We were all checking our phones, our timers for our lights. My inlaws were in town visiting. They were positive it wasn't them, full charges. Come to find out it was one of their phones, a voice mail on one of their cells.

Prayers going up for you and your BS!!!
We had a random buzz...
It was one of those fuzzy feet massager things that buzz with pressure. In the closet. Kids, the dog, something set on top of it. It drove me nuts!

If it has been over the course of 3 weeks, it most likely is connected to the electrical system, as anything battery powered would likely be dead in that time. Check all the plugs to see what is plugged in.
I know our old washer (or was it dryer) used to have a buzz at one stage in the cycle (either finished, or to add fabric softener) that from a different floor would sound like a cellphone on vibrate.
It is also heating season, it could be something on the furnace kicking in, like starting the fan with something going bad, or perhaps the igniter if it does not get an immediate flame.
Kind of hard to know for sure what to look for if you are not even sure where it is coming from. I you hear it again, take a mental note of where and when, and see if there is anything else that happens to coincide with it.
Yeah, triggers suck. So do suspicions when you aren't doing anything.
Good luck with the buzz hunt. (Why am I picturing a scene from Aliens when I say that.)

I can see how that would drive you both nuts!
One suggestion though- when you DO find the source, don't touch it! let it keep buzzing if u can stand it. Wait for your H to be there so he can see for himself that it is harmless. I know my mind would jump to " oh how convenient you discovered the noise while I was gone. Did you also discover the off switch on your secret phone?" KWIM? good luck!

After d-day my BH found a how-to fix it type video in the trunk of my car. He asked where it came from and I had no idea. He said it wasn't his and he never bought it. I said maybe it came free with something we bought at home depot and it fell out of the bag. He wasn't buying it. It drove us crazy and it was extremely frustrating for both of us, and I was frantic because he kept asking whose it was and I really didn't know!
We never figured it out.
I hope you find the source of your buzz!
DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

Thanks you all for your replies.
I haven't heard it again.
Aesir...I love Aliens! I totally want to watch it now!
PC I realized that too, we decided to wait, until chicho is home, to talk to the neighbors, so we didn't have to go over there twice. Cause that would be a little weird, and they think were strange enough.... (a few years ago I had a coffin in the yard)

do either of you do facebook on your phones? my droid phone started vibrating/buzzing after one of the recent fb updates on the mobile app. I thought I had that feature turned off, but apparently updates turn it back on.

Early on in R we were all napping, and I heard a cell phone ding, like an email was coming in. Our phones were both downstairs, and since I had been sleeping I thought I had imagined it. Then it happened again. I got up and started tearing our bedroom apart. fWH was swearing he had no idea, that he had ln secret phone, etc. I knew MOW had tried to give him one just before DDay2, though, so I wasn't buying it. A few minutes into it, with me in a rage, I suddenly heard a man's voice, loud and clear. He was asking "did you have a good sleep?" And then I heard a child talking. It turned out our baby monitor had been picking up our neighbour's. The dinging had been from there.
fWH didn't say "I told you I wasn't doing anything." He just told me he was relieved we figured it out, an that he was so sorry that his actions had put us there.
I'm sure there's an explanation, and I hope you find it soon!

I had a sweater show up in my house a few days ago. It's definitely not mine. I took it down to my neighbor tonight, as I was sure she's the only one whose been in my house this week. She said it wasn't hers.
Enter the crazy cycle.
I've been racking my brain. I finally realized the housekeepers were here a couple days ago and I'm thinking it must be one of theirs. I'm calling them on Tuesday. If its not, Mr918 better look for a big rock to crawl under!

My H and I have been trying to do more things together since our D Day and we just started watching Breaking Bad on Netflix. We have been so into it and it gives us something to look forward to at night after we put the kids to bed. Tonight we saw an episode where Infidelity was a topic. Aside from the awkward feeling, my H had to stop watching and we both cried. I felt horrible and guilty all over again.
I know how you feel. Some days it's 2 steps forward and 10 steps back. Hang in there! There has to be a day that will arrive and the haunts of our past will be mere mistakes that we've learned and grown from.

I mentioned our experience on a thread in general. So I unearthed this for her to read.
Luckily There has been No buzz in a while.
I just hope the beep from the neighbor isn't their carbon monoxide detector or anything....

I was wondering why you bumped this if there was no more buzz!
Do you know if the neighbor is aware of the beep? Maybe you should let them know. My brother had a situation with the CO detector that could have been fatal. Thankfully they didn't ignore it.
