Outdoor dog run flooring?

With 3 dogs on the property, keeping up with the yard has been difficult....to say the least.

So, we built a 10 x 25 pen. We will mostly use it as a place for the pups to do their business and they can run the yard also. So they won't be in there all the time.

But, I don't want the ground in the pen to become a pee filled mud puddle.

I was thinking concrete pavers with gravel between them for drainage could be hosed off easily and sanitized every so often.

Other ideas?

I would leave it dirt and or grass. Just make sure it is in an area with good drainage. Then you won't have the mud issues.

I see it's already built. You can build up the "turf" or the ground so the area has good drainage.

My rescue person recommended the pavers with gravel.

dirt and grass = mudwet mud.

We have gravel, just gravel. We wouldn't have had a yard left if we didn't have the dog pen. We have 4 jumbo dogs. We keep up on the poop and then every few months we use rock salt or lime to disinfect. Works pretty well. The fancy term I have heard for this is "poop gardens".

Pulverized limestone will end up hard like concrete.

I think the concrete Roman pavers would be good. They come in a variety of colors, so you could even make a mosaic on the ground for your dogs to poop on. Not going to suggest any particular subjects for the mosaic, I am sure you have your own preferences.

Your mileage may vary... in accordance with the prophecy.

Do not back up. Severe tire damage.
