How do you all feel about the new show mistresses? Have you seen the commercials? The announcer says, “You can’t help who you fall in love with.”
Makes me sick! I don’t want to judge too harshly until I watch the show. I mean if they show the hurt that infidelity causes families, especially the children, I may be able to handle the show. Somehow I doubt this will be the case.
The cast is having a live tweet during the show tomorrow. I think the members of SI should flood the airwaves when they try to market this trash. I think the writers should come to SI and get the real stories to base the show on. We could give them some plots that are true to life.
Anyway here is the info. I would love it if some of you who are more fluent than I am would get on Twitter tomorrow night at 10:00.
The cast will be live-tweeting the premiere Monday at 10|9c! Join the conversation using #AskMistresses pic.twitter.com/dIXX1AG8n1

I watched the original UK one a few years ago- wouldn't watch it now. I'm not sure if it's just been adapted for US or new stories- either way eurgh.
I remember the mistresses getting hurt and it being geared up to feel sorry for them and one of the women was married and cheated. Her husband was devastated. But most of it focussed on the 'glamour'.
If I remember rightly the woman who cheated was a lawyer with fertility problems...

I watched three episodes of the UK version pre fWS affair. Even then I found it sickening and couldn't watch. One character was a British GP who had an affair with a married man (her patient) and then when he died his son (also her patient). Just SO wrong on SO many levels.

I'm not going to watch. I lived through the real life pain and drama, no need to see it glamorized or try for sympathy of the viewer.

Well, I think I will watch just to see what propoganda is being permeated. On GMA this morning Alyssa Milano swears the show does not glorify adultery. I will see for myself and add my two cents to the Twitter party tonight @ 10:00.

Thank you for backing me up. I really think we need to reach the young people who watch this type of show. Before this happened to me I never had any idea of the magnitude of the pain that this sort of thing could cause. I would never have dated a married man or one with a g/f, but really didn't think it was a bad as it is. Hollywood usually approaches the material as glamorous, funny or they portray the person who is being cheated on as evil and the new relationship as romantic. IE:Titanic..?? If the folks in Hollywood portrayed these women as skanks and showed how most men affair down so they can feel good about themselves they could help bring back the shame that should be felt by those who participate in this type of behavior.Actually they really could do this in an entertaining way. My crazy story alone could fill a whole season or more.

This is just a thought and I really don't want to inadvertantly piss someone off or trigger anyone but *just maybe* the scriptwriters have compiled the mythical\legendary "Cheaters Handbook" that's been mentioned on here so many times...

Are you really going to be on Twitter tonight, DS, about Mistresses ? I would love to see all the twitters but I know nothing about twitter. Does this mean we have to watch the effen' show if we want to see the twitter stuff on TV? Like, on some shows they show the twitter comments on the bottom of the screen while the show is airing? I don't want to watch the show though. I am just going to be outright judgmental and say it is crap!!!!!

This type of glamorizing infidelity really chaps my ass. Perhaps the most effective way to see this show go up in flames is to bombard the sponsors with negative feedback.

Sister, since I am old as dirt, I don't know a damn thing about tweeting
, but I did watch the show. I am far enough out from D-day that it did not bother me, (amazingly enough, even though tonight is the first nite of FWH's FIRST out of town work trip since the A, AND his co-workers are going to a strip club tonight
)
I simply wanted to see what kind of trash would be shown, and whether or not the infidelity would be glorified. Anywho... I thought it portrayed the waywards as wealthy, entitled twits seeking 'excitement' and lurvve, and clearly lacking any moral compass. One character, (the real estate agent) proudly stated that she was a 'free spirit'.
Lord how I hate that phrase.
The character playing the therapist is really making herself out to be some sort of a martyr, while lying to her dead OP's widow, and then screwing her dead OP's son.
IMO, the 'mistresses' are 'showing their true colors' as nothing more than empty, shallow whores.
It does appear that the next episode will portray one of their friends as a BS as she discovers that her dead H, (lots of dead H's in this show) had an OP and OC.
I thought they all just looked like a bunch of 'real housewives' type idiots.

Thanks for the update ppga and cuppa. It didn't get very good reviews, either. It just sounds like another soap opera broadcast in the evening with a provocative title. Meh!

In the UK one they all pretty much got their comeuppances although- it did last for 3 series...
We seem to love a 'bit on the side' going by our telly- in our soaps like Eastenders and Coronation Street they always ruin characters because everyone has an affair with everyone else- currently I'm fuming at coronation for messing with 'gary' and 'izzy'. Annoying.
