About the same here. The rain has subsided but the wind is still very strong.

The storm made landfall so hopefully will it will weaken.

I'm supposed to go to an ocean-front wine tasting tonight. Still debating the wisdom of that!

Glad you are safe, jrc.

All good here. Very wet and we had a bit of wind. Some road and bridge closures. Sleepy day.

I'm planning a move to the FL panhandle this sept...

Can any of you Floridians tell me what I need to do to be ready for future tropical storms and or hurricanes? I have never been through either up here in NWPA.

I keep hearing that we need a "hurricane kit". But I have no idea what it is or what goes into it.

I hope that Andrea hasn't harmed anyone or their property.

Itaninteasy -

Start by NOT moving to the panhandle!

They seem to get hit about once a year by some kinda storm.

As for a hurricane kit... check out this link.

Thank you for the links, jrc!

*sigh* We're looking at Ft Walton Beach. I have family there who keep telling me that the "season" isn't "that bad".

I guess we'll see.

Ft Walton Beach isn't far from Pensacola where some of my family lives...

They either get or are threatened by a major hurricane every season (it seems)

But it's a nice area... and if you're prepared you should be fine.

Ugh. Lived through many nasty hurricanes down here in south florida. Nothing exciting about them. Very scary experience. We hope for another lucky season, as we have been spared (where I live) for several years.

Wish I'd stayed in NY.

Checking in from Tampa Bay. We had a lot of rain and wind. Nothing major, still went into work. My roof is in mid-repair but thankfully nothing came in. Oh, and a slat came off the fence.

Fort Walton Beach area if beautiful. Love their beaches and the water is an amazing color.

We had almost four inches of rain in my part of Tampa - windy for days. Good to hear everyone sailed through this season opening TS.

At least in the panhandle you can evacuate fairly efficiently if you have to, and with a choice of 3 compass points!! From South Florida, it's a 5 hour drive just to get out of Florida and then you can easily double that when every Floridian is jammed onto the northbound interstate.

Glad everyone weathered Andrea okay.
