My BFF of over 30 years, two marriages (ours), two kids (hers), four houses (fair divide) and a divorce (mine) is heading home now and I'm having a post-visit letdown moment.
She arrived Friday night.
Saturday was gloriously sunny. We walked for hours, ate our way through the farmers market, went by my old place, saw the herons and the baby goats in the park, had ice cream, met friends at the local bar, had dinner and more ice cream, went back to the beach to watch the moon rise before dragging ourselves back up the hill to fall into bed.
A full day.
Yesterday was clouds and showers. We had a lazy morning, I made Mexican breakfast, then we walked around another cool neighbourhood, visited a young friend of hers who had a hyper three year old boy and an adorable six month old, two chickens and a cat.
Then we hit the wine bar for the exotic appies and lots of wine. Actually FF had the wine and she-who-rarely-drinks had a couple of hi-octane cocktails made of --- wait for it --- gin, absinthe and grand marnier....
It was a spectacular evening even though the waiter didn't call.
Today we had sushi lunch, browsed the bookstore and dropped her at the hotel for her airport pickup.
It's cloudy and damp and I have work tomorrow.
But only for three days then my VACAY begins. Have some fun staycation stuff planned so this too shall pass.
It was just really nice to have company.
Going to curl up with some stupid TV now.
