Yes... the Moron Mindset.
There are 16 people in a room... 15 of them are women. Most of them are youngish - late twenties-early thirties.
All but four teach gifted or advance middle school.
One (me) is a special needs teacher.
One teaches in an alternative education setting (kids who were expelled from regular schools due to out of control behaviors, but are not labeled as special needs)
One works in ESOL (English as a Second Language)
and One is an assistant principal.
We have four publishers to chose from who each presented their "baby" yesterday in 30 minute presentations.
We had yesterday afternoon and all of today to eliminate two of the choices.
The two they majority chose to keep are completely out of reach for my ESE kids, the ESOL and Alt Ed kids, anyone in the lower 25% and a decent amount of your "average" learners.
And their reasoning is as inept as most kindergarteners.
One very good text was eliminated because "We've seen all those stories before!"
Uh, yeah, You have but unless your kids are repeating the 6th grade three years in a row, they haven't.... and they won't see it next year either.
Oh I could go on and on and on... but why bore you?
I was just frustrated... 2 more days of this crap.
