A story about my wedding ring

here is a story in my head today...

H and his OW were together before he met me ...they had a 3 year relationship where they talked about marriage etc...(they were together 3 years, then H and I met, married and were married for 16. OW and H decided to rekindle and had A for the past 3 years. A ended "supposedly" and hopefully for good in June...anyway back to the story:)

my H's grandmother had this ring in her stash. he was drawn to it and said this is the ring he was going to use to ask his wife to marry him. Grandmother thought it was very fitting and it was a very old ring passed down for many generations, many generations of his family wore this ring. H's grandma died not long after that--last gift she gave him.

H gave the ring to OW and she laughed at it and said it was ugly and not good enough for her. She literally threw it back at him. Laughed at him. It wasn't big enough for her, wasn't gaudy enough for her, wasn't showy enough for her...hated the fact that someone else wore it and wasn't made just for her.

they broke up not long after.

anyway fast forward to me--after H and I met I saw the ring in his possession of stuff and thought it was beautiful immediately. He told me the story about OW which I thought was horrible.

When he did ask me to marry him a year later after we met...I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I have seen many rings in this world and this to me is the prettiest ring I have ever seen. It is very thin and worn looking in the band width and has small square diamond--but I love the unassuming nature of it. I love that it was his grandmothers, I love that it was in his family for years, I love that it has meaning and not just a gaudy thing to show off.

just another reason as to why i am better than OW. LOL...just self validating today.
