I really don't know what is going on with kids today.

I saw this on a medical show and thought it was something goofy so I looked it up this morning. It's real.

Do a search for "cinnamon teens" and you'll pull up the same information I did.

There's a new "fad" where kids are dared to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon in 60 seconds. The problem is that if it gets into your lungs it can cause all kinds of problems.

Taken from the article

the spice is caustic, and trying to gulp it down can cause choking, throat irritation, breathing trouble and even collapsed lungs, the report said.

Here's a link to one article.

There are several reports out there.

Me - BS, 40 (I'm not old...I'm vintage)
Two Wonderful children - DS11, DD8
Getting my ducks in a row for divorce... finally (4+ D-Days too many - listed in profile.)

This actually isn't anything new. There are all kinds of videos on Utube, or were a few years ago.

It's dumb, and kids, teens in particular think it's funny. Heck I think I even remember seeing a segment on AFV with clips of idiots doing this. Of course anything that is a powder, and is attempted to be swallowed is going to go in your airway, and can cause all kinds of issue from infection to permaent scarring.

When I saw kids doing this either on You tube or tv don't remember which I warned my kids. Hopefully they will listen to dumb old mom.
