Hi, this may be a weird question but I figured someone on this site would know. My husband and I want to apply for a conceal and carry (we are 5 years into Reconciliation so we feel safe doing so, lol). BUT we have an embarrassing question to ask before we put out the $$$ to try and get one. I know this involves a background check-we have no criminal history, good jobs etc,. but are rebuilding our credit after a massive medical situation almost bankrupted us-we have not great credit scores right now-will this be a hindrance in getting this type of permit? Thank you!

So let's roll the dice, one more time
Take a chance on love again tonight
Risk it all, lay it on the line
Let the skeletons fight for life
Tonight, hold on tight, as we collide -kid rock

In my state, a CC state, credit scores would not be a part of the check. However, check the CC rules for your state or just call and ask. You wouldn't have to give your name to get general information.

I have two from different states, and neither asked for a credit check. They just took fingerprints and did the typical criminal background checks.

I don't know of any States that need a credit check for a license.

And good for you for getting a license to carry.

Check your states rules. They should have them clearly outlined. I don't know of any state that limits your CC bAsed in credit history.

Please go to a local shooting range and get very comfortable with the weapon you will be carrying and also with what you are required to shoot for the class. I personally have had my CCW for 4+ years. Not all classes are the same look for one that offers tactical training too.

no credit check in Indiana. Honestly, i can't see why they would be allowed to check your credit. Credit has nothing to do with being legally able to carry.

Your state will have their process online, i would look it up.

Unlikely.

Of course if you are actually in Oz (Australia) it ain't happening!
