Like the kids falling asleep by 8 wasn't a sign that the FUCKING WORLD WAS ABOUT TO FUCKING END. We had to open a bottle of wine and start up an episode of Dr Who.
DS11 calls "Mom? Dad?" and so the next 30 minutes we were cleaning barf and getting him through the shower and back to a cleaned bed.
She said it. "This could have been a lot worse." Of course it could. Five minutes later DS7 is barfing. At least he shoved his head out of the bed and barfed on the floor.
We handled it like fucking pros. Like those fucking Italian dudes in Cars. PIT STOP.
I think this is the 3rd year in a row. This is a really bad xmas tradition. xmas barf.
We did manage to finish our wine and episode of Dr. Who.

parenting is not for the faint of heart!
Is there anything they eat only on Christmas Eve that might be upsetting their stomachs year after year?

Oh, Lordy. My sympathies. Ama got it in one, "Parenting: not for sissies."
Trash can with a liner by the bed. Tie that sucker up and pitch it out the door. One by each bed.
I hope it was just excitement and too much eggnog and sweets.

Do they just get themselves all worked up, or is it some bug, or food?

Dude. My deepest sympathies. Christmas barf is not a tradition I'd want.
Hope everyone's back to their unbarfy selves today.

Nah they were actually sick because DS11 barfed the day before, and someone barfed that morning.
All better though, they slept til 6:30 and had a fun morning. I just needed to vent a little. Because, barf.
Still washing shit, heh.
Merry xmas everybody.

We should have known to put something there for DS11, cg9k, but it wouldn't have helped anyway. Poor guy barfed in his sleep and woke up covered in it. Honestly I am relieved he didn't choke. I know he's way past that age, but, you know.

Guess what SG? It was the same in this house but guess who was the barfer? Yep.. you guessed it. Me!
I felt funny after Christmas eve dinner, it got progressively worse through church and I went to bed early. I kept having dreams I was throwing up. And then I woke up at 4:30 and all heck broke loose.
The good news is as far as stomach bugs go, it wasn't pleasant but wasn't the worst I ever had so I still did Christmas and went through with all our plans. I just can't really eat anything and I'm tired.
Sorry your boys were sick

Oh I totally feel your pain! DD and DSD both had a case of the barfs last week - DD sat on the couch with me as I was chatting on the phone, stuck her feet under the quilt I had over me, said "I don't feel...." and then projectile barfed all over me, phone, quilt and couch. DH peeked in & was like - hup, here we go! Cue the swat team action of laundry, bath, thermometer, trash can with liner (that they never, ever barf into) and an eye on DSD who was probably going down in a similar fashion shortly (she did, bathroom floor, at least there was that) and then when everyone was settled we hauled out the Clorox and cracked the windows a bit to air out and then only passed each other in the hall with piles of laundry or glasses of ginger ale for the next 24 hours.
Oh and I asked DD why she would barf next to, but not into, the handy bedside bin and she explained that it was "too gross".

SG, something must be going around because it hit DD7 Christmas Eve morning and stayed with her all day and all night. She was getting sick about every 30 minutes and couldn't eat anything, even room temp water, all day on the 24th. We got two solid hours of sleep. She didn't even eat anything on Christmas Day until about 6:30 when she finally kept down a bowl of oatmeal.
The good thing, if you consider it good, was that she was quick to the bathroom each time so there was no messes to clean up.
I'm sorry you and anyone else had to go through it
I hope everyone is feeling better

Oh, SG, I am so sorry. What a crummy tradition!

Like meta, this was me. Unfortunately, I was hosting Christmas dinner and I couldn't even look at food, let alone eat any. Sorry to all my poor displaced guests, but when you spend $60.00 on a prime rib roast you want to be able to eat some of it.
I am glad you and your wife were able to finish your wine and Dr. Who and that the children seemed to recover rather quickly.
Merry Christmas to you and your dear family, SG, and a very Happy New Year!
p.s. I am somewhat jealous that you both work like Luigi and Guido. Both my husband and I have very sensitive gag reflexes. I can't tell you how many times one or both of us have wound up barfing cleaning up kids barf. So, one or the other does the clean up as it isn't worth the extra puke.
