I am leaving tomorrow night for a trip to Dallas...I am a bit conflicted on what to bring for clothing.
Is a leather jacket warm enough?
Are people wearing boots? Big sweaters?
Are people walking around bare legged?
help!

I'm in Austin but I work in Dallas frequently. I think a leather jacket is warm enough, especially since you are used to cold weather. After the weekend it will dip into the 40's as a high. Here, it gets chilly and we are pulling out the heavy coats...lol.
Although our weather forecast changes frequently, right now people are wearing boots all the time, sweaters when it's cold, light shirts with scarves when it's not. Lots of leggings going on. It's our "winter" lol.
I'm not sure how people dress in your area, in my experience Dallas is a little dressier than Austin, which is very casual.
Hope it's a fun trip!

I am in Montreal, Canada and buried in snow right now..
I guess I will pack some jeans, tee shirts and some sweaters.

Our highs now are in the low 50s with lows in the upper 20s. A good jacket will be fine. It's sunny so it warms up pretty fast.

If you are used to Canadian winters - you probably won't need sweaters. Forecast is for Highs in the 40s - upper 50s and low in the mid 20s to 30s.
No snow.
Have fun and welcome to Big D!!!!!

I lived in the big D for 2 years, and during the winters I was there it flurried twice, and Iced once, and it rarely got below freezing. I put up and took down Xmas lights in shorts and flip flops.
It is more like living in the desert than other areas though. It can get pretty cool overnight, but by noon, on a sunny day it's all the way up in the mid to upper 40's usually.
If you are planning to go "out" someplace nice you will want nice clothes, if you are just bumming around then casual is fine. If you are going out to dinner at a nice place like DelFrisco's then you will want to dress very nice, but if you are hitting casual dining like Don Pablos (best fajitas in the world) jeans and sweaters are fine.
Of course people in Dallas wear boots, but not for snow, but because they like to fancy themselves as being Cowboys. The real cowboys are 30 minutes to the west in Fort Worth though.

You are so right tushnurse! Dallasites may want to look like cowboys -- but they aren't.
(sorry for the t/j Audrina). Like the tushnurse said, unless you are going to a very nice restaurant, jeans and a sweater will be just fine.
What part of Dallas will you be at?

Thanks guys.
I'll be staying with my friend who lives in garland.
I packed jeans, tee shirts and some long sleeved tops.
I think the fanciest place we will be going to is the Dallas orchestra so I guess I will bring a dress. We have tickets for New Years Eve.
It will be my first time in Dallas and I am looking forward to it. :)
