Waiting on chest x-ray results...

I had a chest x-ray done on Tuesday morning for a bronchial infection/pleurisy that has been lingering since November 1st. I am currently on my third round of antibiotics and my second round of oral steroids. Nothing. It seems to get better for a couple of days and then it's back. I've had a painful spot deep in the left lung. Sometimes it just aches or feels sore. Other times, it's more sharp. I am winded easily and cannot get a good, deep breath.

So I'm panicked while I wait for results. I want to know now! I know it's irrational for me to think it's anything other than stubborn pneumonia that just needs the right medication, but my mind wanders to the dark side - lung cancer. I'm a nonsmoker, but I know that nonsmokers can still develop cancer. Plus I have every stupid symptom.

I could have easily let it go, chalking it up to the cold weather, the dry air...anything. But something in my gut told me to go back to my doctor and get the x-ray.

So now I sit and wait and feel anxious. There's really no pint to this post except for me to vent and release my anxiety.

Thanks for reading...

Mojo and prayers coming your way.

Know someone that had the same sort of thing and it was whooping cough. Tht needs a very specific antibiotic. Just saying that there are lots of other (easily treated) things besides cancer.

A friend had the same symptoms you describe. They finally found out he had a small blood clot in his lung and medication soon got rid of it. THINK POSITIVE!

Thanks for all the mojo! It worked! X-ray was negative. I've just got a really , really stubborn case of bronchitis, pleurisy, and an asthma flare-up.

I have to finish this course of antibiotics and steroids and then follow-up. I still might need to see a pulmonologist because my asthma has not been under control lately, but I can handle that.

Thanks again! I hate that I had to come to SI, but you really are the best people
