My kids and Valentine's

I had posted early this week about my frustration with the valentine cards the kids hand out in school in Off Topic.

Well, this morning, I woke up to two of those cards on my nightstand. My kids made a me a valentine

When I got out of bed I thanked them for my cards (we have another snow day today) and my son said "I tried to give papa his, but he said he didn't want it."

Now, I don't really care what is going on during the morning, if he's running late, etc... He could have taken two seconds to take the card, slip it in your pocket, and say thank you. Two seconds! Telling DS10 that he didn't want it just left DS10 thinking that his father didn't want something that he made him.

If he didn't even have two seconds, then at least he should have chosen better wording. How about "Son, I'm running late, can you hold onto it until I come home from work so I can read it then?" Something. Anything. Two seconds!

I feel bad for my kids

Thank you all very much. I gave him extra hugs and kisses and wished him a happy valentines. He's such a good boy. He helped me clean off the snow around my husband's car and off of the car this morning. I should have let it sit, but I was helping the snow removal people more then him.

Now I'm arguing with my husband about other issues via email.

I'm going to try and make the rest of the day fun.

Yay!! My son just received some good news. The library called just now. They have weekly contests where you guess the number of items in a jar and if you're close you win a prize. This time it was candy hearts. There was 176 and my son guessed 175. He won the prize!! We have to go and pick it up. I think the prize is a stuffed animal.

Someone was smiling on him today

Now if I can get him to guess the winning lottery numbers...

it just left DS10 thinking that his father didn't want something that he made him

Things made from the heart are the only things kids have to GIVE. Shame on your H for brushing him off.

But congrats on the prize! I'm surprised he doesn't get the jar of candy hearts!

Exactly. You wouldn't believe all the stuff I have saved, or taped up to my work area of drawings and other things my kids made me. I have a bin under my bed of all their pictures.

I don't think they would have offered that to him because they know that my kids don't eat candy and my daughter has a peanut allergy. I can't wait until we pick it up

It was hard for my daughter, though. She hasn't won anything yet and she was upset. Her guess was 180

Why do some people bother having children?

Not you...your husband I mean. That's heartbreaking to me.

I understood what you meant. I've wondered the same thing myself. It was only after they were born did he tell me he wasn't ready for any of it

We just got back from the library. He picked the Sully stuffed animal. They even printed a copy of the "winners" sign for me. I took pictures and fully embarrassed him, but hey, I needed something for his scrapbook.
