My poor sister. She finally has a diagnosis for the unexplained swelling she has been experiencing in her mouth.
Fibrous and epithelial hyperplasia
Anyone have anything on this? Treatment? Prognosis? It now is her whole bottom lip and top lip. She does not have dentures or obvious trauma. She's in awful discomfort and completely depressed.
Me-BS-71 in May HIM-SAFWH-74 I just wanted a normal life.Normal trauma would have been appreciated.

This is generally thought of as a dental problem so I never learned much about it. Usually these lesions are caused by viruses. Sometimes they will treat them as if they were warts with cryotherapy or laser treatment. Sometimes they inject them with interferon. Sometimes they wait and see if they go away on their own.
