My SO and I are planning a long weekend in Denver in May. Any recommendations for where to stay and what to do? My BFF is there so I know she will have some ideas, but I'd like some additional input. We are flying in on a Thursday morning and leaving Sunday afternoon. We are just looking forward to a weekend away.

How much do you want to spend on a hotel? And, what do you like to do?

We're renting a car, so we can get around and I think we may drive to Boulder early Friday for the day.
I'd love a hotel in an area with lots of things within walking distance to explore on Saturday, and then meet up with my BFF for dinner.

The 16th street mall is fun. There's a free shuttle that runs up and down the length of the mall part of 16th street. Lots of food and shopping there. The aquarium is a little pricey, but pretty incredible. You need at least an hour and a half to get through it. The weather should be great for the zoo by May. We went up and stayed at the Homewood Suites in the Tech Center. We got a really good rate ($68/night for a two room suite, breakfast included), but there really isn't anything within walking distance.

There are lots of breweries and distilleries in Denver proper to expire if you like that type of thing. Hike the Flatirons in Boulder! (There are paths that are pretty undemanding--you don't have to actually climb up the rock faces 
)

Actually Glenwood Springs is more like 2.5 -3 hours west depending upon where in Denver you are.
I love the Hotel Teatro right next to the 16th street mall. Fantastic mexican restaurant within walking distance as well as Larimer Square....It is pricey, but oh so worth it.
The art museum is really fantastic.
Boulder is fun, and you could stay there as it it is not too far from Denver and day trip over to Denver.
