Eighteen months after Dday I sold my marital home, bought another home, one month after that I was offered an incredible position in a new career as a subject matter expert in software development - LOTS of life change at once - and it has been tough.

My team loves me, but my big boss I believe hasn't been sure about me because I'm not big on selling myself. Yesterday we had a presentation and demo for elected officials, my big boss was there, and my other team member and I nailed it!

The presentation was scheduled to last up to an hour, but the group was so engaged, and asking so many questions that we were both able to field with honesty as well as some humor, that the sessions went over two hours.

Afterward, my big boss, who primarily watched from the back of the room, came up to me and said that we need to handle our next presentation next Friday in Fort Worth exactly the same way. I previously was not scheduled to be a part of that, which he remembered from my puzzled look, and he said, "Were you not scheduled for that trip? Well you are now. Persevere, we need you two to handle next week just like you handled today - it was perfect. Great job."

The other team member is technically my manager, and an awesome person, and he is always involved in everything, so now he's joking that I impressed our boss so much that I've pushed him to the side...lol.

I'm just so pleased that the job is finally really starting to come together and I feel like I'm finally proving my value. Yay for new beginnings!!!
