..every once in a long while, we might be lucky enough to 'find some money'... a quarter on the sidewalk or a twenty blowing in the wind..

..so post your best story of 'Lady Luck' shining on you.

..I'll start... last week I bought a pair of shorts at a well known chain of thrift stores.. Value Village ..put them thru the wash and yesterday I wore them..

..felt the pockets...??? what's that I feel???

..opened the zippered pocket...BINGO.. $12.00 in American currency..

..dontcha just love when that happens!!!

I will pm you my address, I am sure you would want to do what's right and return it.....

My H drove my car last week so I could take his (newer, better gas mileage) out of town. He called to let me know he found money in my car. It was only $2, but still. Guess that's paybacks for all of the cash he has left for me to find in the wash!

Slight t/j here

This reminds me of when I worked at an auto parts store. The counter guy got a kick out of using super glue or epoxy to secure a quarter on the sidewalk in front of the building. Lots of fun watching this

end t/j

I found half of a twenty dollar bill years ago. Took it to a bank and they gave me a whole one. I went across the street and bought a case of beer

Once when I was walking to my car from my office I found about 150+ in front of a grocery store. I took it in and returned it to the store security. I assumed, correctly, that it was someone's paycheck that they had just cashed.

I am glad I returned it.

I have you all beat! So, New Years Day, my husband goes to open the church (open every day, locked only at night) In the narthex (foyer) is - a dead raccoon, carefully placed on top of a pile paper and with $100 dollars under one paw. WTF? Never did find out why this scenario had happened, but for the beginning of the year could tell church members that the number one philanthropist in our church was a dead raccoon!!!

I used to work with a very funny older woman.

One day she told us she had been walking on the beach in the morning, and she came upon a rose lying just to the left of her route. She was about to pick it up, when she spotted to her right a twenty dollar bill. She was suddenly seized with the idea that it was some kind of test by God, and that it mattered greatly which she chose to pick up - as if she were choosing between finding love or having material success.

So, we asked her, what did you do?

She said: "I grabbed them both!"

An old debit card fell out of my drawer last week-- it was from when I collected unemployment last year. There was still 54.00 on it!!!!I went to the grocery store.

My new tax guy told me that I could claim the EIC for my oldest son since he lives with me. XWH gets to claim him as a deduction (we made a deal last minute - I never have to refi the house if he can claim a child),,,anyway I thought I couldn't file EIC on this child,, but I can!!!! I filed an amended return and yesterday got a check for 495.00. I really needed it, too!

Sometimes He calms the storm. Sometimes He lets the storm rage, but calms His child. Dday 12/19/11I went to an attorney and had him served. Shocked the hell out of him, with D papers, I'm proud to say!D final10/30/2012Me-55

I have better luck finding money on the ground than playing the lottery hands down!

1. When I was 8, my entire family walked into a department store and passed up a hundred dollar bill folding into eighths. Not ME!!

2. About 15 years ago, I find a twenty folded in under a one dollar bill outside a K-mart store

3. About 5 years ago, I found a five dollar bill IN MY GRASS!!

4. 2 months ago, I walked into a Barnes and Noble store and found a $20 that apparently MANY people walked over.

5. Everyone can find pennies, I have found quarters etc. on a regular basis.

If only I could be this lucky picking numbers or betting on horses

My very best find -

A year ago I was looking for shorts for my DS ( he is 22 and 6'6") I found a pair at Savers (a cousin to Value Village)that looked like they'd fit, but he wasn't with me. They were 1/2 off that day, so $2.50. I took a chance and bought them. I usually NEVER buy stuff for the kids if they are not with me.

That night he gets home form work, I show him the shorts, he says they are really similar to a pair he already has, but he'll try them on.

He puts them on, they fit! Big cargo pockets and he loves those. He starts to put his hands int he pockets and finds a wad of paper - pulls it out and hands it to me. It's money. US currency.

I take a look - 3 $100 bills.

Took it to the bank, they are all real.

So I got a pair of shorts for DS that he likes and I got to buy anything I wanted the next trip to Savers

Now I check the pockets even if I don;t buy the shorts! The weird part is the shorts had been there for about 6 weeks to be marked down to 1/2 off.

If I weren’t a hoarder I’d probably be one of the people unwittingly donating money to the second hand stores. I always find $20s I’ve stashed away in hidden pockets of camping gear, old purses, etc… that I haven’t touched in over a year.

I've trained for three marathons so I've logged lots of hours on the streets. Once found a wallet with about $200 in it. I was about a block from the police station so I just dropped it off there.

I once found a diamond wedding ring on another run - like someone had thrown it out the window! I remember it was a 20 miler and I was exhausted when I got home. I had put it on my finger and then just crawled in bed. Hubby asked me why I had another ring on my finger.. ha! Told him what happened and we took it to the jewelry shop and I think they gave us $75 for it.
