So we're in the final couple of days of my three weeks doing songwriting stuff and this full moon equinox energy is really working in my favour.

This week I put in for the closing spot at the club show on Friday night, which is a cooler venue than the theatre, which is a lot more formal and restrained. I initially thought I wanted to do a theatre show, but the club has turned out to have better stage sound and it's more fun.

I asked for the whole studio band plus the guest superstar visiting faculty who slays on the pedal steel and anything else with strings.

I also let them know that I could do a solo spot anywhere anytime if that was easier, just to be flexible and give them options, since scheduling this stuff can be a huge headache.

It's tricky because you have to make sure your musicians are available for soundcheck at a specific time or it's a no go. These folks have been in the studio 8 hours a day 6 days a week and are busy trying to do their own stuff in their downtime, so to get all the ducks in a row is difficult if not impossible.

Got the schedule today, and my mentor gave me the sweet spot I asked for.

So we get to blow the roof off the place tomorrow night and go out on a high note.

The bonus is that they shoot and record every performance, so if I don't screw it up I'll have a pretty sweet promo video for a small extra fee.

Onward

Good stuff, FF!

My musician GF is going to put together a showcase called "Tears in my Beers," featuring down-on-my-luck songs from a parade of local musicians. My experience being cheated has been a godsend for my songwriting in this vein!

So we did the thing and it was pretty awesome. We brought the house down and everyone was blown away.

Then we all went to the bar and GUESS WHO was there of course.

Onward.

Congratulations FaithFool! Hopefully, because you were in her face the whole time, you already metaphorically "kicked her ass"!

With any luck, she was in the audience at the last show and sees how little she has affected you or maybe everyone is telling her what a good set she missed.

Yes, the log jam has finally broken, lots more songs to come.

When I came off stage my mentor was standing there, grinning. Gave me a big hug and said "I bet that felt real good."

Sure nuff!

I shared The Story with one more person last night at the wrap party. She's BFF with one of my BFFs and she totally got it.

Onward.
