Tmi warning.
I have a red itchy raised area about the size of a dime on my breast that appeared yesterday. It's just off the areola. It's also exactly where the seam is in my bra and the edge of my breast pocket of the shirt I wore yesterday.
I'm unsure if it's a bug bite (looks like a mosquito bite) or a reaction to having had a handful of screws in my breast pocket and getting poked. I've been poked before and never had this happen so....
I have been scratching it and I'm sure that isnt helping.
Should I see if a day or two without a bra helps before freaking out? I cant get in to see my doctor for at least a week.
TIA

Hey DragnHeart, I get those kinds of welts when my underwear has been dried once too many times at a bit too high heat, and cooks the latex elastic, or the covering wears off to expose the elastic! Contact dematitis from my latex allergy.
I've thrown away too many things that still looked fine, because one little spot had gotten frayed or even just cooked by dryer heat. Look at that seam real closely and see if you see anything rough.

In my area there seems to be two different strains of flying, biting, night bug.
One leaves a 2 to 3 mm diameter, 1 mm high itchy spot.
The other leaves big welts. They quickly rise to 5 or 6 mm high and 10mm or so diameter. If you scratch they itch like fire.
They last a few days. Sound like yours?

First things first. Took off my bra when I posted this. Intense itch is now gone...but theres still a ting of being poked every now and then.
Look at that seam real closely and see if you see anything rough.
The seam has pills(?) Like what sweaters get. Right in the spot its red. Could something this tiny cause so much irritation?

Well theres been these massive mosquitoe looKing bugs appear lately. Noticed them first on the horses. They are HUGE! When they bite you know it cause it hurts.
The smaller regular mosquitos leave the bump and itch but this is really red, maybe just from me scratching?
I did just wash the shirt I wore yesterday and today in a different detergent as well. but nothing I haven't used before. I am itchy everywhere and I have a bad area on my back that I did have my doctor look at because it can get so bad I want to scrape it with a wore brush lol. I also cannot reach that spot.
Lately I have also found that if I pet the goats my hands itch terribly. As long as I wash them it doesnt seem to last, maybe poison ivy? They do free roam.

It's a histamine reaction you are having, which can be caused by multiple irritants. For me, it happens mostly during hot weather and worn out elastic gives me red welts, itchiness. Something about the hot weather ("opens the pores") plus the elastic itself, but yes, if it were my bra and I saw that, it would go right into the recycle pile. The actual stretch materials used in undergarments is made with little strings of latex (an allergy for me) or other stretchy material, that during manufacturing gets some kind of closely-woven stitched covering. Look at that seam under magnification and I bet you will see fraying caused those pills, and so your skin was touching the elastic directly.
Recently, I toossed a pair of what I thought were still nice panties, the nylon ones with wide elastic lace-knit band. I hadn't noticed the "waist" band on this pair seemed to fold over in half, because the stitching must have gotten too hot once too often in the dryer, and had melted or frayed just a teeny-tiny bit. Only when I pulled 'em off and that band seemed stuck to my abdomen, with an itchy red line beneath, did I realize it was time for the trash can. Not sure why I react to such stuff, but once you are histamine sensitized, a lot of things will bother you.

It must be something in the bra because the redness and itch is fading.
I thought it may be a pimple at first amd tried to pop it. That left a deeper red mark which is there but the rest of the area redness isnt that bad.
Time for a new bra.
Thanks all.

I have one of those, too, Dragn, and keep a back scratcher handy. Doc sees nothing that should cause it. And I have no animals or any other possible cause you mentioned. If you ever figure it out, I will be interested to hear.

The doctor said that the spot on my back was "scaley" but that's it. No reason for why it what I should so about it that I recall.
I also have a back scratcher hanging beside where I sit in the kitchen on the wall.
The spot on my breast is still there but not as itchy.

So a couple of days with no bra and this seems to be getting better. Still itchy if I touch it. Splotchy red now not all red.
I was really starting to worry as my breasts had become so tender and painful but guess who showed up today... Aunt Flow.
Also had a terrible nightmare last night of going for a mammogram and having the tech say that maybe she should get me right in for a biopsy but the doctor said no.
I've been working outside all day on the goat pen preparing it for the ducks and geese and I have no idea what I touched but suddenly my hands began to itch so badly I couldn't take it. ran inside and washed my hands over and over. Soap didn't help but bleach did lol

What?
I've never had this much issue with itchiness ever. I've been exposed to poison ivy before and never broken out like this.
And breast itch can be a sign of inflammatory cancer so its kinda scary.
I will be wearing gloves today working outside.

Oh gurl…been there!
I had chronic itching exactly where you are talking about. It lasted a long time (think 1-2 years). I always made sure I had anti-itch cream with me cause it definitely helped.
The drs were unconcerned.
It did eventually go away.
Such weird-azz stuff happens to our bodies!
I hope your itchiness is short term!

Anything to do with breasts freaks me out.
Breast cancer on both sides of the family, had my first mammogram in my early 20's then surgery for a lump. They took out so much tissue "to be safe" that one side is smaller than the other. It wasnt cancer thankfully.
So reading that red itchy spots could be cancer left me feeling uptight. Had bad dreams over it.
The spot itself isn't itchy anymore but theres a faint pinkness to it still. Seems everyone in the house is feeling itchy. I'm going to start putting all laundry through a second rinse cycle and see if they helps.

Oh yeah!!! And with age it just gets worse.
Weight gain can happen if I just look at food.
My eyesight sucks all of a sudden.
Migraines are back full swing.
I'm tired mind you I'm taking down old barns and putting up fences and digging holes and then cant sleep at night so it's no wonder right.
Ugh! I want my 15 year old body and energy level back!!!

DragnHeart, sometimes you tend to over-work yourself, wouldn't you agree? Your drive is stronger than your frame, like a 450 cubic inch motor in a Mini?! Whoa, girl!! Foot off the gas pedal....

Hopefully you're better from this. I don't think anyone else suggested this, but what you are describing sounds a lot like ring worm.

Yes I agree. But if you saw the list of shit that needs to get done it's hard not to just go go go. And it's not all go go. I'm sitting here after having an hour long phone with my parents. I carried one pallet to the back and that was it for me today.
I can't afford to hire someone to do the work. And wh is so tired he barely can do much on his one day off.
The kids help, sometimes.

Hmmmm looked at photos of ringworm. Looked more like a big mosquito bite. Could even have been a spider bite since I had one crawling on my arm yesterday.
Big D had what looked like a Whitehead pimple on his leg. Overnight it got bigger. I cleaned the area and could see something sticking out. Pulled out a stinger with tweezers and all the pus came out. He was a very unhappy child.
Whatever this I had just looked like a larger reaction to a mosquito bite but the itch wouldn't let up. I did take benadryl and that helped a lot
Now it's just a bit pink and no itch

Mites of some kind, Dragn.
Oh ewe. Nothing I picked up IN the house. We keep close watch for mites due to the reptiles.
I've been outside for hours daily.
It's been warm so mosquitoes are out in full force and I found a grasshopper up my pant leg and a spider on my arm.
We also have fire ants. Those suckers hurt!
I've gone braless all week and it's gotten better. Kept being irritated by the bra so it could be as simple as the bra needs to be replaced.

Just a thought... any chance you've recently changed your laundry detergent or anything related to laundry? Your bra is your most restrictive part of your clothing, and if you're allergic or sensitive to something in the laundry, it could be rubbing your skin wrong right where your bra touches and rubs against your skin. It doesn't necessarily have to be every place where your bra touches your skin - it can just be in some places.
For this reason, I only use a detergent free from perfumes and dyes, and my washing machine is set to rinse twice, not just once. And I don't use dryer sheets.

I typically use a cheaper liquid laundry soap.
I had gotten a package of Tide Pods and wh loved how his clothes smelled afterwards so I started to buy that just for his smelly work clothes lol.
Yes, I have at times thrown my own stuff in with his just to avoid multiple loads.
I winced the clothes twice. Wore my bra today. No irritation at all. So far.
My back on the other hand is all itch and driving me nuts.lol
