BraveSirRobin and TimeSpiral, your card made me laugh out loud, and those glasses are super cool. My daughter loves them.

DesertLily, I'm so glad! We almost chickened out at the last minute on that card. I was worried that people who are displaying them might be expecting something more generic. Ultimately, TimeSpiral convinced me that a mailbox full of glitter and strange usernames is already pretty conspicuous.

This is my first year in the exchange, and first Christmas in decades without STBX. All the cards arrived here in two bundles on the perfect day - STBX's birthday! I've been opening them a few at a time, though I opened a bunch last night since it was a tough one.

I'd heard about the glitter, and was prepared with a bowl to catch it, but still had no idea!

I wasn't up for much with my own cards this year, but will have to see what I can do next time.

Thank you all for something lovely, sparkly, and positive this holiday season!

One lone, small, crinkly, noisy, pastel colored envelope arrived today!

I love the exchange and have some ideas bouncing around my head for next year. Probably still won't be glitter though.

I love the ones with the personal or supportive note; I wish I'd thought to do that. Next year...

I wish we had written each recipient's name inside the card, instead of just signing it. I was surprised how that small gesture felt so personal and warm.

As you said, next year!

I received all of my cards last Friday but haven't gotten around to opening them yet. I look forward to sitting down with a glass of homemade Irish Cream tonight to open a few. I plan to stretch it out over several days as I really don't have any plans leading up to the 25th. I'll celebrate with my kids and grandkids on the 28th.

My boomerang DD (35), lectured me all about the harmful effects of glitter on the environment and suggested we find something environmentally friendly next year. I keep all my glitter safely contained in clear ornaments each year so I'm receiving all my glitter guilt free. I may switch to biodegradable confetti next year though, just to keep her off my back.

Some of you people are just evil. You couldn’t just put in the typical glitter. Oh nooooo, you had to go for the ultra fine stuff. WTF? Armed with anti-static spray, dryer sheets, and a paint brush, I carefully opened the cards and emptied them into a ziplock bag. I quickly learned you can’t just feel the card and assume nothing was in it. Nope, those cards came from the sneaky ones with the ultra fine glitter. Regardless of how careful I was, there was still glitter on my table, the floor, my lap…..and my dogs now twinkle like the vampires in Twilight.

After filling my ornament with the glitter, I got the vacuum and sticky roller out to clean up. No matter how much you vacuum there is no getting it all up. I finally gave up.

Later on I checked the mail only to discover two more cards filled with the devil’s powder were waiting for me.

Well played people, well played

No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.

LH - Ummmmm hellllooo.... you act like having twinkly dogs is a BAD thing! I hear ya - one of my cats decided to drag his tail through my bowl of glitter while he was 'helping' me open my cards. I am still getting glitter on me when he sits on my lap

FYI, he also helped me make the magnets and my cards so I am apologizing if anyone ended up with cat hair. He just wanted to give presents too apparently!

I agree, lieshurt. Since at least the second year, if not the first, I have used a paintbrush. It was one of those 'evil' people who filled their cards with a very fine, gold glitter that made me do it! So pretty, but totally evil!

Out of curiosity....do ya'all prefer just one type of glitter?

I'll fill a Tupperware container with a variety of fine and course glitter, multiple colors, confetti, once I even included fake snow. Mix the whole thing up and using my measuring spoon dump a good tablespoon of it into each card.

My kids got right into this and asked about a Pop up card that would "poof" the glitter everywhere when opened. I spawned evil dragons lol

Anyone see the videos of the former NASA engineer who got a package stolen off his porch? He spent a year designing a package that not only exploded glitter everywhere, but also included a fart spray and had it all set up to be recorded and GPS to track the packages. Omg his videos are hilarious.

Good thing I'm not that tech savvy lol

The pop up card is a good idea and if NTV signed up I'd be worried about some sort of fart card lol

OMG Dragn! Yes, pure Evil!! But would be hilarious videos (as long as I wasn't a victim! )

Maybe mixed in, the micro glitter wouldn't be so hard to deal with? All alone, I was not able to dislodge it all even with the paintbrush. It was really like spreading paint to brush over it and everything it touched was gold no matter how much time I spent.

Now imagine if your house had been filled with 100’s of cards being shuffled from on area to another with poofs of glitter trailing behind each move. Then topping it off with our own pile of cards to open.

I feel so incredibly festive this year!

Now see this makes me wish I lived in Texas so I could host the card event and have all elves over.

My places needs more festive cheer for sure!

Do ya'all remember the old time tinsel that we used to use on Christmas trees. Life glitter that stuff got everywhere. Lol. Glitter wins out for sure.

We Swiffered the cards as they came out of the envelopes, and that worked pretty well with the microglitter.

Received 15 cards today.

Bundled in an elastic band.

I placed the stack ....unopened on my kitchen table....

The table is now all glittery....

And again...I haven't even opened them yet...

Not sure what the postal worker thought lol
