I just took a wood carving class and made a pretty fun owl. Trying to decide if I should stain her or leave her like she is.

I'll try to remember my password to my photobucket account so I can post a pic.

But I am bumping this anyway!

Still on a dating hiatus, so all of my NB has been non-dating lately!

Went to a fundraising gala on Saturday and had an amazing time for a great cause.

Today I volunteered at an ultra marathon with a friend of mine and we saw many of our other friends.

It's the sum of all of these tiny NB that has made for one amazing real NB!!!

Two weeks ago, I mentioned to a new friend of mine that I was thinking about picking up piano. It's something I've always wanted to do, but we were too poor for me to take lessons as a kid (I got to for about 6 months until my mom got pregnant again; we couldn't afford a piano so I couldn't teach myself.)

My aunt gave me a piano about 3 years after I was married, but then controlling/abusive WXH made me get rid of it when we moved a year later.

Anyway, my new friend happened to receive an e-mail the next day that her synagogue was getting rid of their piano for free. I am getting it delivered on Wednesday. Will need a little bit of work, but I am so, so excited!!!

I am making good progress on my piano skills. Yay!

Also, I joined a gym for the first time in over a decade (had a treadmill while married and just ran outside the past few years.) It's amazing and I wish I would have done it sooner.

Artisans are installing my storm windows, so I shouldn't be so cold this winter. Hopefully installed by the middle of December.

Work end of year review went better than I ever could have imagined!

I bought half of a bushel of the most amazing apples in the world. They should keep for 1-2 months in my fridge, but I will probably eat them before then. Is there anything more perfect than a great, in-season, local apple?

I have discovered the best podcast ever ("Serial" -- you will thank me if you listen!) which has led me to finding other great podcasts. I knew I needed to get with the times :)

I'm so glad I decided to read NB for the first time and found this thread. It's scary having to move over to D/S. I hope by the time I'm ready for a new beginning, I can have a list as good as the ones I've been reading!

Happily divorced after seven years of false R and TT. I'm sixty, single, and spectacular!

After my first antiversary last week I am looking forward to have new begginings in several areas of my life.

Right now I am:

Making new friends

Opening myself to 2 new opportunities in bussiness

Will automate my current business in order to have more free time.

I think this thread is a wonderful idea for those of us in our new beginnings!

I'm very new to D/S so am nowhere near ready to date. I'm devoting my time with my kids to being a better mom, being more present and cherishing the time I have with them.

I've started going to Meetup groups in my area doing things that interest me- a few of us have actually branched into our own informal group of about ten people which is nice. It gets me way out of my comfort zone and instead of being with my coupled friends I now have a very diverse group of new friends, most of whom are much younger than myself.

I've started snowboarding again. Learned about 26 years ago and haven't really gone in the past several years. I still have the equipment and it's been a lot of fun. And it's something I can do with the kids, too (when they let me).

I'm walking with the neighbors when I can, some of them go out for long walks several times per week.

I'm also redoing my dining room and turning it into a nice room where I can curl up and relax or read or just be comfortable. I've spent a lot of time trying to make my house my own now that my ex moved out. Little inexpensive things like new towels, new bedding, etc.

Part of me worries that I'm keeping so busy for fear that being alone is hard, scary and lonely. But the other part of me thinks that if I'm enjoying what I'm doing, that's better than being lonely with nothing to do. And I need a little enjoyment in my life right now.

Lately I have been:

Spending more time with my niece and cousins.

Studying lots of interesting new things.

Meditating.

I don't have any time left to do more things and I believe all of the things i'm doing are making me stronger.

I hope I can find a good man but if not, at least I will be stronger, happier and wiser!

You are a search master, SAZ. So fun to read these old ones!

Another non-dating NB for me is that this weekend is my 5 year anniversary at my "new" job and I'm approaching 5 years of bike commuting -- something I had always wanted to be able to do but didn't work with my life before!

Oh I just noticed the dates on this thread. I saw a post by Tesla and thought she was back with us again. I sure have missed her.

Let's see what have I done that wasn't dating related....

Bought a new house

Got two dogs

Decorated the interior of the house

Landscaped the yard

Learned how to use a skill saw

Made a raised garden

Took up a few hobbies

Started to read books again

Cook and eat what I like

Take day trips to different towns

Enjoying my lake view

Paid off my truck

Going where I want when I want or not going anywhere I don't want to go to make someone else happy.

I'm grateful to see this thread! I feel both terrified and ok about starting my non dating NBs.

Feels like baby steps mostly -

here are a couple things I've done -

joining a book club with a group of wonderful women

actually reading the books for bookclub

learning to pay all the bills (monumental NB!)

keeping a household and raising two young kids alone

went to dinner and movie with a friend

still to do - need more courage to do

fun activities for myself - swing/salsa dancing

(not feeling guilty doing these), movies, cultural events, learning a language and/or instrument

need to install a router and wifi system

fun summer activities with kids

these feel a bit overwhelming b/c it is all on me. Step by step i can do these.
