What did the pet carrier company say?

They had me email them a picture of the carrier and my cat's eye. Then I had to fax over the 2 vet bills. All I've been told is that once they are done reviewing it, they will reach out to me.

I would also say that she probably has diminished sight in that eye, and probably why she managed to puncture it. You may be much better off getting it removed to prevent ongoing angst. She will adapt, and be just fine with only one eye. Our friends had a one eyed cat, and he was a vicious killer of birds and snakes.

It's amazing how they adapt.

I am open to having the eye removed. Whatever is best for her. Today she is giving us tons of hugs and kisses.

Try not to worry. If the eye has to come out the cat won't care less. My wife has done the operation dozens of times and the cats are almost always absolutely fine. The cat will adapt and get on with killing things a lot faster than you will expect. My wife cut a leg off one of our cats and it hasn't stopped the bloody thing from bringing birds back into the house.

Instead of being a hunter they just strap on a patch and become tiddles, the one-eyed killing machine pirate. It won't even slow your cat down.

Our best friend has a cat with NO eyes. It's an indoor cat obviously, but is now 15 and bumps into things a lot less than I do when I've had a few drinks.

Our cat is an indoor cat. Thankfully, the only thing she kills is her toy fish.

We were told that this....

would be a lap cat. We paid nearly £1000 dollars for her. I love her with all my heart. She's been there for me in the darkest of days. In the midst of my wife's affair she was all that gave me comfort. She follows me around the house talking to me, and sleeps curled up against my legs in bed. she gets lonely if left alone. She adores the dogs and they love her. when I leave for work she climbs into the car to come with me. When I go to the bathroom, she wants in. When I am in the bath she lies on the side. She is far and away the most intelligent cat I've ever owned. she turns on the bathroom heater if she is cold. If we set the cat flap to only allow cats in, she's worked out how to open the cat flap inwards and get out. I expect to come one day and find her cooking dinner for herself. She's worth every penny I paid for her, and I'd never now have a different breed of cat.

But...

It turned into this...

Since we got her two years ago, she has amassed nearly $4000 worth of damage. she has destroyed curtains, wallpapers, a significant amount of scuba diving equipment, a monitor. OktoberMEst's goretex jacket now looks like a sieve. I laughed until I saw MY goretex trousers, which could be used to strain rice. I had a £200 Osprey rucksack that will now only hold things that don't fall out the holes in the bottom. We gave her a pretty and expensive wicker basket to sleep in, thinking it would mean we don't have a cat in the bed every night. she ate it. We came downstairs one day to find it looked like it had been through a wood chipper. I am brought mice and voles on a daily basis. Birds about once a week. We had two slow worms in the house last week. they look like bloody snakes. Every now and again you wake up to the sound of something being dismembered. Every now and again something organic explodes in the bathroom.

But she loves me. She brings me these things as gifts. Bless her :)

Try not to worry about your cat. They are incredibly resilient, but I know the fear that goes through you when their health is in danger. They get deeply into your heart :)

Hi. Just a quick update. Kitty's eye is permanently damaged, no eye sight, and the cornea is fused to the eye so it can't dilate. On the brightside, she is painfree and the infection is gone. The company gave me the run around about their defective carrier. As of today, they are giving me a store credit in the amount of the vet bills and carrier. In addition, I asked for an apology letter for their lack of caring.

I'd ask them to each send one of their eyeballs.

Well, I'm relieved that your sweet kitty is pain and infection free. She's still going to get a heck of a lot of love from you and DD, and that's the whole point.

Jo, I'm glad they are reimbursing you and that your kitty is pain free. We had a one eyed cat (had to be removed because of cancer behind the eye) and he did just fine. He was a little off before, this didn't affect him at all, lol.

Totally! Plus 2 new cat trees with the credit. My home is 45% DD's stuff, 35% kitty's stuff, and 20% my stuff.

I am glad the company did something though you'd think they'd be more understanding and generous given that it was their product designed to protect animals that hurt your cat .

We had a cat who was run over by a hay thresher in the farmers field next door . She lost her tail and her leg but lived another very loved and happy 10 years after that. She was an indoor cat but had gotten out . They are amazingly resilient and pain free is the best outcome

When all is said and done, I would write a review of the carrier and post it to their website.. or at least let some of the rescue groups know to check for damages on the carrier. Just so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

I am so glad kitty is pain free and doing better... They are such little buggers.. but we love them.
