The game is online, and requires about 54k/s for connection, but the weekly patches of a couple of GB each will kill any data plan based on usage.

I stopped playing about 2 years ago. Those were the good old days. I felt as though my guild was my family. They really helped me through some rough times. Unfortunately, my guild as since dismantled. It will never be the same for me and therefore, I won't play again. However, XH has started playing again since he got laid off and he created characters for our kids... I do miss it when I hear them talking about it!

Failure is success if we learn from it.

Does anyone here know of a server that runs either Lich King or Cataclysm? Because those were the rules that Heart and I got most accustomed to, and I would love to be able to play toons from that era again.

You mean a server that focuses primarily on LK and Cata dungeons and raids? I dunno... I am on a medium pop pvp server, and everything is so dead right now. My SO and I have been concentrating on the Auction House and reputation. Tonight, though, we got invited into a group and camped the front of Stormwind. So much fun. I hate killing lowbies, but I made an exception tonight. Some brave level 14 panda monk came at me swinging. I didn't have the heart to one shot him, he was too cute. One of the other guys killed him, though, lol.

Aesir, that is funny about the guild thing. I think I have that in me... that is one of the reasons I server transferred, because I wanted to experience different guilds (I am tied to my main server's guild). I have also come to realize... at least on my realm... that Horde are jerks! I never knew what assholes we are. As a low level Horde I never worry about Allies attacking me until I get into the BC stuff. Low level alliance is a different ballgame. Darkshire and Goldshire is a bored Horde guild's playground.

I have cut down playing quite a bit. My SO's schedule is more flexible right now, so it is our WoW ramp up period, lol. Fall and winter, though, we hardly play.

Now I hear this Candy Crush game is amazing...

Also, who is going to be playing Elder Scrolls? ;D

Well, there is not much experience to be had with the other guilds the way I collect them. They are all bank alts, the guilds are for purely personal storage. I used to buy out pages of mats from the Chinese gold farmers when they dumped them on the market, then report them for botting and sell when the price corrected.

My server was 10 active horde per alliance. We used to say that they were afraid to kill a bunny in Orgrimmar without a healer and a stealthed rogue watching their back. Late in BC I started a tradition that when we killed a ganker or wiped a raid we would light a fire just to show them we were gonna camp.

Pro Tip: Best ways to wipe an amateur horde raid on SW, have a NElf shadowmeld near Varian and tag a huntards pet when they first show up. To wipe an organized raid, have a few DK's spread out down the hall and wait for Varian to do the whirlwind, then chain death grip the tank all through the raid.

Sadly, each expansion kills all previous content. Hunters into extreme soloing are now doing ICC on their own and have killed the Lich King, unless you want to play on a private server. (Not recommended for legal reasons.)

I understand the "private server/legal reasons," but I'm not that into current content. I'd be willing to play Vanilla or BC, but my heart is between LK and Cata. If someone had a private server, I would be very willing to play, considering I've pretty much given up on MoP.

I don't understand a word of this!

I downloaded WoW after hearing so many people rave about it, DH and I created a character (that was fun) but then was absolutely stuck. I don't know what the point is, and all the tutorials seem to talk about the "back story" without actually saying what you DO.

We spent a couple of weeks trying to run around and do things, but nothing ever happened. We swam, ran, grabbed some stuff... that was about it. What is the point? After 2 weeks, I still don't know what a "guild" is or how one would go about meeting a guild. And what do you do with all the stuff you collect? Why do you want it? What is the goal of the game? Why would you run one direction over another? What are you trying to accomplish? And is there any tutorial that tells you these things?

There are a few leveling guides that will tell you where to go and what quests to do so you can level faster.

What you should really do from the starting point is head to the nearest character you can find with an ! over it's head. If you can not see one, they will show up on your mini map in the top right corner of your screen. These characters will give you a quest, and when you have done it they will have a ? over their head so you can complete it.

You likely won't find a guild until you enter one of the major cities.

What is the goal of the game?

That is like asking the meaning of life. It is different for each person because you have to decide that for yourself.
