Yeah I figure OWifetress was all good with sleeping with my husband, sleeping in my bed, riding my quad (this, is what she felt "funny" about?) and being a poor second choice to me (but the only choice xWH had when I left) she can share the damn name.

Unbelievably, my ex-WH officially objected to my divorce petition request to change my name back to my maiden name! Apparently he thought he could legally block the change. How his L let him do that is mystifying.

NPD much?

Fuck him. It would give me great satisfaction to know that keeping his name pissed him off.

I chose at the time of my divorce to take back my maiden name but I did not adopt using it until about three years ago. So for the first five years after the divorce I still went by my married name. It pissed poopsmear off so bad that even though I had legally changed it there was nothing legally wrong with me continuing to use the married name and nothing he could do about it. Trust me, I consulted my lawyer because he was livid and threaten to take me back to court and force me to. My attorney assured me that I could go by whatever name I wanted to. Technically, it would be considered an alias. I didn't change my drivers license, Social Security card, bank accounts or anything until three years ago. At that time I just took my divorce decree down and showed it at the DMV and Soc Sec offices and got those things done.

My advice would be if you ever decide you want to change your last name to your maiden then go ahead and do it at the time of the divorce and carry right on using your married name as long as you want to. FTG, There's not a damn thing he can do about it and he can go suck eggs. You will have saved the expense and that aggravation of having to go do it later.

I never took his name in the first place. I am glad now. My degrees, bar admission, everything in maiden name. The kids all have his last name and it has never caused any problems, even travelling internationally without him.

What is messed up though is that XH's last name is the same as OW's *first* H's last name (ie not the one she recently divorced due to the A, that was her second H). So if XH becomes that useless troll's 3rd H, she will already be used to the name.
