I've been thinking about this and watching him. He lives in the floor. So guess that helps explain the holes. Even though I have really thick, cushy carpet, apparently it's not enough to prevent holes. Grrrrr.

Sears carried a brand called "Toughskins" which had reinforced knees.

Totally looking into this! Thanks for the idea!

I would tAke all the blown out knee pants and have mil make them into shorts. Of course now jean shorts are uncool but my ds wore lots of cargo pants too and those got reworn as shorts. Just a way to get more bang for your buck.

I think they may have a grown up version of Toughskins.

I was all exited when my 4 year old got his first hole in his jeans last month! Stitched them up with some cute Liberty fabric on the inside behind the rip. I think it's really cute, but maybe he will hate that in a few more years.

They have patches that you can iron on the inside of the jeans to protect the knees from blowing out.

The patches are not seen, but works exactly like ToughSkins back in the olden days. Ha!
