jrc - I take about four long road trips a year because I love driving and seeing new places.
If you want to calculate your fuel costs, go to www.gasbuddy.com It can figure your fuel costs, round trip.
If you plan to take I-75 north through Ohio, the best OUTBACK Steak House is at Findlay, Ohio. If you go farther up north into Michigan, take your 12 year old for an 'international experience' across the Ambassador Bridge (Detroit) over into Canada ... or the Blue Water Bridge to Sarnia, Ontario.

We're going to Frankenmuth for a day
Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village
And various other places!
