Last Friday we had snow in Houston and it was in the 30's. They shut down many of our freeway ramps since we don't know how to drive when it get's too cold.

Today, we'll come close to 70 degrees. Time for shorts again.

No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.

DragnHeart; my wife says I'm FULL of hot air. Maybe I could come up there and just talk to the snow and it would just melt???

It was -26 this morning so I don't think any amount of hot air will melt the amount of snow we have now. Driveway done. WH can totally kiss my a$$ if he doesn't like that it's not perfect...Watching twins running around in the snow while doing it isn't easy!

Also if you hate snow have you ever considered to move south??

Oh maybe when I hit retirement age but for now this is life as a Canadian. Can't tell you how many times I've head on the radio "come on people this IS Canada...Slow the heck down already and clear the snow off your vehicle!".

Apparently not all of us up here are as bright as Christmas lights lol.

Hey DragnHeart....don't forget we have many American cousins on SI.

They measure temperature in Fahrenheit, not Celsius!

So our -26 degrees Celsius is still damn cold;

-26°C×9/5+32

= -14.8°F

Waving to my American cousins: almost -15°F

Still damn cold!!!

@ Chrysalis:

I am happy to report that snow has never officially been reported in my city near the Everglades.....ever!!

Fortunately, we don't have any alligators climbing up our snowbanks.

Ya I mentioned that on the first page. I have a thermometer outside of the kitchen window.

Right now:

C° -15

F° 8 (looks like it anyways, hard to see. Its above the 0 but below the mark for 10 degrees F°).

Looking at that equation gave me horrible flashbacks to math class...And a headache

Isn't it something like double it and add 30 gets you close? Lol.

Ya I excelled at English and art, not math.

Still cold out.

Quick Celsius (°C) / Fahrenheit (°F) Conversion:

°F to °C

Subtract 32, then multiply by 5, then divide by 9

°C to °F

Multiply by 9, then divide by 5, then add 32

I had my Grade Fives convert temperatures when we studied Weather, no calculators other than their brains.

Thank you. I screen shot that post. Now I'll be able to do it. My math teacher in high school was nearly at retirement and just didn't want to teach. My science teacher was so laid back he'd let me leave class to go buy him chips at the corner store lol

Listening to the radio forecast and they said tomorrow we will have a "high of -4"

I'm sorry but a minus anything isn't a high lol

.

I see them frequently and fortunately, they like to keep to themselves. They are quite beautiful in their prehistoric ways.

What is freaking me out are the gigantic burmese pythons. I'm talking 16 feet long and as thick as your leg. 2 were reported about a mile from here....but that is unusual because their preferred location is hiding in the mangroves and swamps.

The snakes are wrecking havoc with the ecosystem of the Everglades. They are descendants from released pet snakes.

But other than that, it is eternal summer here, and Candyman I like the humidity

But you are right, San Diego is awesome (except for the traffic).

Round up all those burms and send them my way! Lol. I would have thought the gators would have enjoyed the meal they give. Hmmm.

It started to snow just before the kids came home. Its stopped now. Hoping it stays stopped.

Its looks to be an all day snow today. If it keeps up like this for the week we may end up snowed in for Christmas. Not that we plan on going anywhere. There's over a foot of snow piled on top of the bird feeder already today. A foot!!! At least it's that light fluffy snow and not the building snow fort snow. After living here a few years I know that I dont have to go snow blow the driveway multiple times. I'll wait until just before the kids get home from school and hope it doesn't fill up again before WH gets home. I'm a huge cold weather wuss so I'm not looking forward to that.

No worries and i totally get the lack of sleep. I'm feeling like that too.

WH was at work. Snow was an all day snow so the build up was horrible! Between 5:30am when WH left for work and 8:30 am when I took the kids down to the bus so much snow had fallen that the tracks from the truck were gone and had the kids asking if dad did go to work...

By the time he gets home it's dark so I usually clear it just before the kids get home, while the twins are in bed.

There was alot of snow by then yesterday and of course the auger line to the handle broke but luckily did so after I was done most of the driveway. DS helped me shovel in front of the house when he got home. I have a new cord for the auger but I'm now concerned. There were oil spots all over the driveway this morning. Its warmed up a bit that the snow is melting and I could see. We did an oil change on the truck so I was worried it was leaking but it's more of a spatter and the snow blower was back firing and kicking up a fuss. With all the snow coming down while I was doing the driveway I didn't see any oil. No flurries today. But the rest of the week into Christmas is supposed to be. Good thing we have the other blower my dad brought up in case ours is on its way out.

Now Saturday the driveway was bad and i had expected WH to do it with the blower but I ended up doing that while he bathed the kids, did dishes and got everyone ready to go see Santa. We sorta switched roles.

I am an admitted weather wimp. We had 4" of snow here 10 days ago or so and it didn't disappear for 2 days. After a transfer here I was giddy at the thought of never having to deal with snow again. I don't like the cold but dealt with it when I had no choice but to...the 70's today...yay me.

Today was considered cold here, it was 68 degrees!!! In the morning it had gotten all the way down to 42 degrees. Just too damn cold. It's really tough here in the winter!!! I'll probably have to wait till mid January to start my tan again.
