There’s just no way. At least for me.

Right? Me, neither. We did try it in a class once. That was interesting.

I just tried it downstairs in my workout room. If I'm going to fall on my face it's going to be there, and not in class.

sewardak. I tried it yesterday, too. Not happening. I don't know how you get your wrists turned around like that and bend your elbows at the same time.

I guess I do see how you could do it one-legged now, though. Just keep one foot on the floor.

Lotus is an advanced pose.

Yeah, who the heck knows.

We did headstands tonight in class. We also did this.

A couple of people refused to even try either one even if with props and straps.

The seated on above, or the peacock?

the seated one

gonna go try it now since it is raining so not gonna head to the farmers market :)

a lot of these poses have multiple English names but the one legged peacock I am talking about (not trying yet, just talking about it lol) is one leg extended and the other bent near the body.

but I did find a nice progression online this morning so might try the one leg on the ground version in the not so distant future :)

We need to invite a few more people to this online yoga party. I don't seem to have PM privileges or I would invite a couple more people.

i realized i needed to have some interactions that did not revolve around the word we can't mention in this thread so am loving this discussion :)

Gotcha. The seated one, another one of those sages, can be done with a belt if you can't quite connect your hands. Sometimes I can and sometimes can't depending on my right shoulder. Also,be careful of your lower back. I pulled mine in that pose once.

I think I know the one-legged one you're talking about. The bent knee is resting on your elbow? I think I know that one as ying pigeon. I can get in the position, but I can't extend my legs yet. Let me see if I can find apick.

This?

I know what you mean about classes with more difficult poses. Usually, eventhe advanced classes are just faster paced with less instruction, both really difficult poses. The owner of my studio discourages inversions. It's a liability thing.

Look for workshops. I've done an inversion workshop and an arm balance one. I suggested another inversion one at my studio.

yea, the shoulder is a little challenging but doable as a progression

the one legged pigeon I was thinking was the bottom one.

there is one I might try tho

the one that is second from the bottom

we need to invite some more people to join our fun conversation

it beats focusing on the things we can't talk about in this thread lol

gets my mind on better things!

I don't know anyone else who's into yoga to invite.

We've done the 2nd to bottom in class a few times. Try it with your hands on blocks first. It's easier to get your hips off the floor. You need to really tighten your core for that one.

Damn ladies, I just had to pop in and tell y'all that you have my utmost respect. The only way my body gets in those types of positions is when one of my horses tries to buck me off or riding my Penny Annie when she has other plans. I am in complete awe of your ability to even attempt those poses!

Well enjoy your day and just so you know, I don't always break a bone when I find myself in similar positions, only sometimes. Have a good one.

It usually takes years of practice to get to those poses.

I'm going to look up baby grasshopper. Sounds familiar, but I can't picture it.

Oh, yeah! I've done that one. It's not too difficult.

ETA: Once I'm done pretending to watch this football game my 12yo is playing, I'm going to go home and show my fch all the arm balance poses I can do. He saw these pics and was like, "Can you do that?!"
