idiot85(I hated typing that--you're not an idiot), are you liking the book? I got totally drawn into it! I thought the author's concept was very creative.

The first chapter was like whoa! Then it really slowed down but now I'm starting to see why they were necessary and it's good again.

I had a flick through and saw the part it turns to 'I' I was like aarrgghh who the eff am I??!!

I'm currently reading Brian Greene's "The Hidden Reality." Actually, an infinite number of me's in parallel universes are reading it as well.

Cause I need some theoretical physics to lighten up my day.

Heavy Sigh ( member #34243) posted at 7:15 PM on Sunday, May 26th, 2013

I've become overly picky about books lately, and any artifice to get a plot rolling that I once could overlook as fun or part of the escape, completely turns me off and takes me out of the book and then I'm seeing the writer's tricks or feel "Nothing new - same old, same old."

Sigh. I never wanted to be one of those people who watch sci-fi movies and bitch all day that the science isn't quite right about DNA in amber and dinosaurs, or whatever, rather than just enjoy the book or movie.

But it seems I've become that person. I blame WS.

I read such crap for fun lol. I was an English lit major so I blame it on that. When you have to read the amount of literature that major provides trashy novels become great. I'm currently obsessed with the psy-changling series by Nalini Singh. The new and I think final one comes out June 4th...EXCITED!!! I got sucked into the story line. It's like a 10 book series but I'm rereading in anticipation of the new one.

I just got done reading the first two books by Deborah Harkness: "A Discovery of Witches" and "Shadow of Night". I think they were both interesting. Not exactly light reading, as the main character is a professor of 17th century alchemy and there's a lot of tech speak. I am enjoying the story so far, and looking forward to the last installment.

I just finished A House Interrupted by Maurita Corcoran. I had not heard of it before it was recommended to me, but it was a good read. I identified with a lot of the author's experiences and emotions. Found some nuggets of wisdom in there, too!
