I think he is very newly seeing someone.
When I gathered my intel last month, I got it from someone who was in the know that is was/is single). I made sure to double check that.
And, bluecali, yes, I am ok with his response and I am proud of myself for putting myself out there. Got the first one out of the way, so to speak.

Please accept a high five from this side of the monitor. You should be very proud of yourself.

He's seeing someone and she has plans set for their weekend (in his mind). It's why he said he needs to "see how things go." What that means in guy world is that if these plans fall through, you might expect to hear from him. Or it's assumed that his weekend is being planned with her by her, if you know what I mean. He just isn't aware of what they are doing yet. LOL If he does contact you out of the blue I would ask him up front if he has a gf right now and if he thinks going out with you would be a wise decision with regards to his other relationship. He will fess up pretty quickly once you're on to him..

nutmeg - Virtual fist bump coming your way for taking the chance and putting yourself out there. WTG, girl! The next one will be a piece of cake.

Way to go nutmegkitty! I've been in the position he is in...sort of seeing someone when someone else comes on the radar. If he isn't seriously interested in the other woman, give him time to untangle himself. It is cute that he was flattered.
Anyone else on your radar??
