I'm in the middle of Ready Player One. It's pretty good, pretty different in plot and as a child of the 80's I'm getting a kick out of the extended retro 80's theme.

I just received my copy of "Blood Meridian" by Cormac McCarthy. It's supposed to be one of the most violent novels ever written, and an American Classic. I've heard it referred to as the best American novel of the 20th century.

Corey Taylor's auto, Seven Deadly Sins. Tough to plug through but it's one celebrity's take on real life and human frailties.
I have learned a lot of big words out of it, tho. I love using my dictionary on my Iphone!

I've been reading a compilation of zombie short stories. I finished the entire Game of Thrones series (well, the books that are written) and needed something brainless (pun intended!!)
You are not dealing with rational people or situations. Normal thought processes won't work...story of my life.

The Kitchen House. It is about a white girl who loses both of her parents on the way to America. A white captain takes her to his plantation to live. He has her live and work with the black slaves. Very interesting so far.

I'm finally reading The Hunger Games Trilogy. I devoured the first two, and I just downloaded Mockingjay onto my Kindle, and I'm about to go start it. I'm hoping to get my book club to all see the movie together.
I also read Becoming Jane Eyre recently. If you're a fan of the Brontes (or even of just that novel), it's a lovely read.
I'd love anyone's thoughts on these novels:

The Zombie Survival Guide.
This is my 12-year old son's favorite book.
Currently reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
I'm only three chapters in and unimpressed so far. Hoping it gets better.

"Water for Elephants" was the first book 9 years after my husband's affair that held my attention. I loved it.
"Cutting for Stone" was excellent. I know some people who thought it was a little long, but still enjoyed it.
"Gemma Hardy" was okay. Very contrived but a good beach read.

Just finished twin-bred, written by a friend of mine. It's only available as an ebook. It was interesting...but the fact that I know the writer is what brought me to read it.

If anyone's looking for a fun, light read, I'm loving The Darlings - it's a novel revolving around the Madoff scandal and the rich feeder funds that gave him their clients' money. I've been enjoying reading about the lives of the Upper East Side traders before their fall from grace!

Still reading and re-reading the Hunger Games Trilogy -- can't WAIT for the movie.
Daughters have me reading Young Adult novels now and I really like them -- mainly because they don't have raunchy sex scenes but are still interesting and emotionally charged.
♥ BW m. 31 years - Divorced in 2009. It's still a month to month financial struggle, with higher income taxes as a single and no retirement parachute since I was a stay at home mom.
