I climbed this:

Yep..that's Mt. Shasta on Saturday--I started climbing it at 1am in the morning with my group of friends--we ended up turning around at Avalanche Gulch due to weather conditions (70-100 mph winds with chunks of ice and rock falling down)

My new beginning is happening--my love affair has begun..with myself and my new life on my own..challenging myself to do things I NEVER would have thought to do before...and you know what? It feels freaking AMAZING!

Here I am at Lake Helen right before we tried to summit--

I'm sore as hell today, but so excited about this trip--we're doing it again in May when there's snow...so much easier to climb!

Hey, I consider going on flat land at sea level, fighting a horde of Greenhead Horseflies a major victory.

Let alone climbing some monstrous peak.

You should be more than proud.

I want to climb something someday

I am happy when I can climb back into my 1999 Dodge Ram.

We got to Bunny Flats (the trailhead) at 8pm and set up our tents..then got up at midnight to break camp and start our climb...I truly can't even put into words how inspiring and amazing this climb was--first we hiked about 4 miles in pitch black (wearing headlamps, of course) with these amazing stars above us--it was like Heaven was just opening up for us. Then getting up the mountain and watching the sunrise over this massive peak with the rays making the tips of the craggy rocks a bright golden color..unbelievable

I cannot WAIT until May to do it again and summit this time....

FANTASTIC!!

Come to Hawaii and join me on the Stairway to Heaven. 3,922 stairs straight up a mountain summit. Much warmer than your climb too!!

I've posted some pics in the past if you search on my posts!

Wish I could join you next time!

Hey Burnt,

I did a hike like that in Colorado Springs called the Manitou Incline--it was INSANE..but I bet your climb is much more beautiful--and I've never been to Hawaii before...

I bow down to you!! What an amazing accomplishment!!

I live in SoCal and have a few friends who have climbed Mt. Whitney. You and they are inspiring me to give this a try.

Did you sign up with an adventure group? I'm curious as to how to get started. I'm a party of one.
