http://dailycheapreads.com/ Not free but under $5. Subscribe. Also, on the Kindle, go to Shop Kindle Store, Kindle Best Sellers, and you will see a small link at the top right of the page that says Kindle Top 100 Free.

Some are old out of Copyright stuff, but it's actually how I got hooked on the Fever series that everyone here was panting over. Enjoy!

I have a B&N Nook... but I assume this works for Kindles as well if your public library offers it...

I can "borrow" ebooks from my library's website for 14 days. I just have to enter my library card number to access the catalog. I can download the file, run it through Adobe Digital Editions (free program) and transfer it to my Nook. After 14 days, it automatically expires and I can't access it anymore.

I would check your public library to see if this is something they offer.

I just read on Kindle's FB page that later this year they are going to add the ability to borrow library books at over 11,000 libraries nationwide!

I was looking at an e-reader (not a Kindle) and had been wondering about library books. In some online research I found that you can get "Out of State" library cards at many big libraries for a fee and then could access their collection of e-books.

Philly was one of those libraries.

This swings me a little more in the direction of an e reader. I borrrow most of my books from the library so I didn't see how it would work for me before.

P.S) Please don't show NA this post because she will think I am a traitor. And please also don't let Kdny read this because she will gloat.

Thanks ..and *shhhhhhhhhh*

Metamorphsis, the Sony E-reader has the library lending feature. If your local library is on board, and you are a member you can borrow the books for 2 weeks.

I have both a Sony Ereader and a Kindle. I far prefer the Kindle but do read the Sony on occasion. I don't mind paying for books. I have one credit card with a low limit and I use it for books only. I'm a voracious reader so I have ordered well over a hundred books on both e-readers and it's all money well spent, IMHO.
