I read a lot, several books a week usually. I've gotten to the point where I've reread all my books several times (some of them dozens of times) and am getting a little tired of it. So, here's a list of what I've read. Any recommendations of books that are similar?

Have you read the LEFT BEHIND series? Tho based on the book of Revelations, its not a pteachy, religious read. I recommend it.

Jim Butcher is an author that you may enjoy. His Dresden Files series is great.

You may also look at the series by Nanny Wurts starting with The Curse of the Mistwraith.

Not everyone is a fan of J R Ward, but I enjoyed the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Some people also like books by Karen Moning!

Check out James Clemens' Banned and Banished series.

Have you read the Kim Harrison "Hollows" series? That's pretty good.

Also, check out Kelley Armstrong - she is one of the most phenomenal writers I have had the pleasure of reading. I can't wait for her new stuff to come out!

I tend to pick up the young adult novels when I'm really bored and just need something to read quickly until I get my hands on something amazing. I really do prefer series instead of a stand alone book. A series, trilogy, etc give the author a better opportunity to really develop a story and make it incredible.

As soon as I have time to go out and buy some books I'll get started at all your suggestions. I'm tempted to buy a Kindle or Nook just to have them available immediately, but I really like the feel of a book in my hand. I did read The Selection by Kiera Cass tonight. It was good, not great, but good. Thanks ya'll for your recommendations. :)

I just bought Jessica Andersen's prophecy series. Now I just have to have time to read them!

Try Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series - it's great. Lindsay Buroker's Emperor's Edge series - I think she only has e-books though. Zero Sight series by B. Justin Shier. Shelley Adina, Lady of Devices series. I'm really into steampunk lately! Most of these are e-books but they are cheaper than buying the real thing. I love using the Kindle!

Also, check out Kelley Armstrong - she is one of the most phenomenal writers I have had the pleasure of reading. I can't wait for her new stuff to come out!

My friend recommended it to me after reading the first one saying it is Twilight for adults. Much much better and the series will keep you busy for a while. I couldn't really get into the YA series (but I'm not opposed to giving it another try), the Otherworld is amazing

Other Gaiman books I liked more than American Gods were Neverwhere and Stardust. If you don't mind graphic novels his Sandman series is excellent, probably his best work imo.

Anything by Terry Pratchett.

Books of Swords by Fred Saberhagen is old school fantasy. Not great but I'd put it on par with Goodkind and Jordan at the very least.

Have you tried Justin Cronin's "The Passage"? Its a whopper of a book (appx. 750 pages!) but I just finished it and its fantastic. Part Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" and part Stephen King's "The Stand" (both of which I also recommend) yet wholly original and entertaining.

The Passage rocks indeed, yet it has an open ending and there are supposed to be follow ups.

I LOVED your post as I always am looking for new mind-blowing books, so I am going through the list of yours that I haven't read yet (most I have though).

I hope my recommendations will be helpful. I don't recommend crap, so probably they will be in the same kind of mood that you are looking for, books that transport you completely to another world.

Kamie Garcia&Margaret Stohl series in the Beautiful Creatures. (Just plain horrible. Really horrible and annoying past the first chapters)

James Dashner the maze runner series (original concept, very bad worked out story)

Cassanda Clare mortal instruments series. (Also good idea, but did NOT find this good writing or well thought out, it's just too many times "yeah right" feeling)

My favorite series of books is the Patricia Cornwell series featuring a character named Kay Scarpetta. Kay is a medical examiner and delves into very interesting cases throughout her career. I own all the books in this series, and have read them dozens of times!

The Crying Heart Tattoo by David Lozell Martin.

I have this book for about 15 years and will never get rid of it.

Following a recomendation from Lady V, I am on Karen Moning's last book of the Fever Series. I honestly didn't care that much for the first book, but I stuck it out and have enjoyed each book sequel progressively more.

There are 5 books in the series, the 4th one (that I just finished last night) was HOT.

You like Gaiman, so you'll like Terry Pratchett. I didn't see his Discworld series in your list. It's enormous, and they can pretty much be read in any order (although the very first one he wrote is The Color of Magic).

Warm up for Discworld by reading the Gaiman-Pratchett teamup Good Omens. It's the funniest book about the apocalypse you'll ever read. I've given away four or five copies of it.

If you like Arthurian stuff I highly recommend Jack Whyte's Camulod Chronicles (starts with The Skystone, then there are about a half-dozen more along with a couple of spinoffs.
