Isn't hsv1 the oral type? I'm sorry to be confused I thought 2 was the std one.

yes, type 1 is the oral strain of the virus and it is carried by about 80% of the adult population. This strain is commonly referred to as cold sores. It is possible to have type 1 present on the genItalia and it is generally a more mild version of the type 2 symptoms. Some people never show symptoms and many don't even know they are carriers.
