My two favorite shows to go to Netflix for (Mythbusters, Doctor Who) aren't being kept up-to-date. That's why I asked for an insider's look at what Netflix is really up to. If they're more interested in doing their own line of programming, then I might as well subscribe to Hulu.

First - team Castiel! Swoon!
Loved Dollhouse! That was a big Netflix discovery for us. I think Enver Gjokaj (Victor) is a hidden treasure! That guy could act! And dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYKtKyxQr_k
Another kick ass discovery was the Red Riding Trilogy. Dark and gritty and filmed in the type of 16 or 35mm film used in the era they were portraying. Very dark, very Noir. Fell in love with Andrew Garfield in these well before I saw him anywhere else.
I also have an unhealthy obsession with most of the Investigation Discovery shows.

Doctor Who! I was suggested this show in my geek thread and have been marathoning through the seasons. I have to admit to a serious man-crush on Captain Jack...but the Doctors Daughter just showed up provide some balance that one!
I'm pretty sure if those two got together time and space would implode from the sheer awesomeness!
Seriously though...Captain Jack in the man...

dlmos - If you want to keep that man crush going (and man - I totally understand it), do not EVER watch Torchwood. Ever.

NIK, is Torchwood really that bad? I'm also a Whovian (as you know
) and have wanted to watch Torchwood for a while. BBC America never airs it though, and I don't have Netflix.

Torchwood is... ok I guess? It's NOTHING like Doctor Who. Not even close. Different kind of show entirely. But what they do to Captain Jack as a character just killed me in the two or three episodes I watched.
Blech.

The new show from Netflix "House of Cards" with Kevin Spacey was awesome. Only one season so far though.

I really don't understand this love of Netflix...
I mean, I have an account but I only order DVD's from it.
I almost NEVER stream anything...
Especially since *gasp* I don't have anyway to watch it on the TV... I don't even know how you people do that...
I just pay the cable bill and watch whatever I find.
When I do stream video... it's at school for the kids.

jrc, I like Netflix because you can find series that haven't been on for literally decades (ST:TOS, Mission:Impossible, Dark Shadows, etc.) and hidden gems that got cancelled well before they should have (like Firefly and Dollhouse). Or if you're in the mood for B grade entertainment of any genre, you can find that too.

Just recently got access to this while staying with someone who has it. I began streaming early Touch and In Plain Sight episodes on my computer that I missed since I came upon both later. We also watched some movies and series on their TV. Now I have to subscribe! Lots more I want to see. Dr. Who, here I come!

Netflix streaming was all I had for TV entertainment last year when living with my Dad during his final 6 months. Totally got hooked on Burn Notice, watched all of Bones, Supernatural, a few British mysteries like Rosemary & Thyme. But best of all was the UK (original) Top Gear. I would put on one of their epic cross-country adventures and just laugh till I cried.
I'm done here; sick of 2 x 4s
