I really don't want to get in to the merits if that breed is inherently dangerous or not, but I am personally not comfortable with them.
It appears him and cumdumpster adopted one last weekend. And this is after I sent him an email about a month ago expressing my concerns with the breed of dog they already had. It is known to be aggressive around babies and toddlers and not recommended around them.
I mean seriously - in a not even 900sq foot condo they now have two aggressive dogs, two cats and a fish tank apparently. And she owns the place - so there is no landlord to tell on them in case there was a violation.
She works at a dog boarding and grooming place (I know - picking up dog shit for a living gives me so much fodder) so I know she likes pets but fucking come on! When will he think of his child?!?!?

Unless it is a banned breed there's not a whole lot you can do.
This is the part that sucks most. We have to share our children with these fucking irresponsible idiots.
monster has put my tantrumming 5 year old out on his balcony as punishment. 3 floors up. Whilst she is losing her damn mind and scared witless about being out there.
I could rip his face off but that would be against the law. Being a POS, incompetent baboon of a parent is not, unfortunately.
Oh, until something happens. SO nice we get to sit around waiting for that before we can do anything.
I feel sick for you.

I can't speak for thr breed, but it may be possible that the condo assoc and/or the city has an ordinance regarding the number of pets in a household. Some condo assocs have breed restrictions too. It sucks. It seems they never think of the kids first.

I don't know all the exigent circumstances, but pit bulls are excellent around children. They're called the nanny breed.

Most homeowners insurance have breed restrictions. I know mine would drop me like a hot potato if I had a pit bull.

Being knowledgeable about dogs (we currently have three 120 pounders), I can tell you it has nothing to do with the breed and everything to do with socialization. Any dog improperly socialized can be vicious and a potential danger. The problem is you have no knowledge about the background on either dog, and that is a valid concern. The fact that she works in boarding and grooming doesn't mean she knows a damn thing about socializing and training. You could potentially have a valid concern about your child being endangered...just sayin'...

I had a dog myself (he passed away in Feb from cancer) that I adopted from a shelter. I did not know much about his background and he had separation and socialization issues. After having him for 9 years he was much better - but as others have pointed out, I have no idea (nor do they in all likelihood) the background of this dog as they got it from a shelter. And for every tale of "its how their raised" vs "inherently dangerous" there are stories of the dog attacking the owner. My dd is only 2 1/2 now - her face probably fits in its mouth.
I'm just so over dealing with this shit. He always does whatever vagina he's currently obsessed with wants. He did it with his ex, with me, and now her. The problem is now that he's with a fucking 23 yo. Someone who doesn't think of other, the future or consequences.

Unfortunately, until "something happens", there is nothing you can do.
I would have a major problem if they got the dog as some sort of accessory or status symbol though. That kind of thing bothers me.
I have 2 german shepherds. I am big into rescue and mine are both from shelter/rescue. XWH and OW went out and bough a german shepherd puppy. I thought that was creepy seeing as he just left 2 shepherds here with me. Anyway, this shepherd is so wild that when he takes DD, the dog has to be separated from her. She has come home with a few marks and scratches on her that she claims are from their dog, but there isn't anything I can do unless he does major damage to her.

Condos have building associations, those generally have rules about the size and number of pets residents can own. Usually condos do not allow large or aggressive dog breeds. Also most cities have ordinances regarding pet ownership, limiting the number of pets people can have based on size of residence.
You could place an anonymous call to her condo association.

two aggressive dogs
Pit bulls are very very miss labled and it breaks my heart, because they are actually very very good dogs.
Pits have a very high drive to please, they are pack protectors, and they are HIGHLY intelligent. This combo has been missed used and miss treated for ages.
To be frank, as long as your X treats the dog well, loves on him and doesn't get aggressive with the pit, your child will have the best body guard on the block. Since the pit was brought into the family, and not the other way around, your child is part of the pack, and that Pit would protect your child with its life if it had to.....they are just designed that way.
I don't want tell you not to protect your child, but I would strongly ask you to please do better research then what the news tells you on aggressive breeds of dogs....they are almost always aggressive because its the OWNER that makes them that way.

I called the HOA today to find out if they had a ban and I unfortunatly only was able to leave a message asking for a return call. Hopefully that angle will work out.
As for him training it and not being aggressive - uh, yeah right. He would get pissed at our/my dog and knee him, yank and drag him hard on the leash, and towards the end when he was "so unhappy" he kicked him when he was coming up the stairs bc "he was in his way". I called him out on it and apparently I was imagining things bc of course he denied it. He also adopted a dog with his ex before me - they quickly gave it away bc it was "too wild" and they were "having issues and needed to focus on their relationship". As she's his ex, you can see where that went.
So yeah, not a good track record with dogs I would say. This is all the whore - she wanted the dog and he always just goes along with whatever vagina he's with. He did the same with me too. Expect I'm an adult and understand responsibility/consequences etc., whereas she's 23 and doesn't.

There is something you can do. You can make sure that your children are raised to know how to behave and react to dogs. I know they are little but even simple things like teaching them to always scratch under the chin and not pet on top of head, not petting a dog unless invited are pretty important lessons.
As they grow, giving them dog handling skills and helping them recognize the signs when a dog is being agressive will serve them well in general.

Pit bulls are just as sweet as any other dog. They always get a bad rap and 100's are euthanized daily because of misinformed people! Bad owners are the problem, not the dog. Shortly after my ex-husband moved out he adopted a puppy that was a Chow, Rotwellet, Pitbull mix. Our children were 3 and 10 yrs old at the time that their dad got them the dog who was a loyal faithful companion for years until he just recently passed of old age. I glad this dog was in their lifes and they have nothing but loving memoried of him.
