My guy, through his ham radio club, has been a volunteer at my state's emergency management center since 2010. He helped write the manual for the volunteer radio operators. He recently got an email saying that he needed a new ID badge because his security clearance had been upgraded. So we went and I waited out in the car while he got a new badge made with new picture ID. The emergency management is tied into homeland security.

I'm proud of him for many reasons, but the willingness to volunteer his own time to help his community is a big one.

Please thank him for his service for me. That work is HUGE! I don't think most people know how important that work is, or will rarely see it if activated. But without it we're screwed.

He's a keeper!

Good for you! It takes a special person to be with a ham. I volunteered for the Salvation Army for many years. They have a ham group; very special people and very important.
