Sweetie, get thee to a doctor and pronto. Why wait until you really get hurt in a fall? Just tell the doctor everything you have said here. This is what you have insurance for!
Can you ask around at work or ask friends for a recommendation on a good doctor?

I did get doc recs from 3 friends, but it all went away when the weather warned up, so I think it was probably just that I was wearing skirts and sandals in 55 degree weather because I was beyond ready for spring.

Immediately see a doctor. Please. This is not one for self-diagnosis.
If the symptoms have remitted, share that info; it's potentially very important.

Ama, you have had at least one doctor and a few nurses comment that you need to have this checked out......I would trust that they know enough about what they're talking about to take into consideration whether your symptoms could be caused by wearing flip-flops in 55 degree weather. And yet, they STILL said to get this issue evaluated.
Make the appointment and go.

I second Gonnabe's comment. I know all about the "If I wait long enough maybe it will go away so that I don't have to go" strategy of avoiding medical appointments, because I use it a lot! I loathe all the palaver of making the appointment; stripping off; being poked and prodded; talking to random fully-clothed strangers while wearing only a minuscule paper-doll dress and praying that The Big One doesn't strike within the next hour. But nonetheless, in this situation, even I would cave in and make that appointment.
I think I'd probably have been scared by all the "go immediately!" messages people have posted. But I think I'd rather face the fear and the inconvenience and go and talk to the doctor than keep waking up at 3 am wondering whether I should have listened to all those SI posters....

With MS you lose ground with every progression, and you don't gain that ground back ever. Meds slow the progression. If this is MS and you don't go to the doctor you are really harming yourself permanently.
But if it's nothing and you go to the doctor--no harm done.
There isn't a scenario here where it's a good thing to ignore this.

Thanks all - really do appreciate the concern, and will consider the numerous factors as to when I can best take time off work to check in with a doctor.

Ama - You should make an appointment with a Primary Care Dr. No excuses. You need to have an MD that knows you well. In addition with the numbness issue that "went away" I would say that MS is a possiblity, but would like to ask if you drink a lot of diet soda, or eat a lot of aspartimine (nutrasweet). This can cause all kinds of weird neurological symptoms. If so eliminate it for a week, and see if you feel better. Had a friend that was going through the whole MS workup, showed up at the appt with a 32 Oz polar pop, the Dr asked what she was drinking, she said Diet Coke. He cancelled all further testing told her to cut it out of her diet immediately (she drank about 1-2 liters of it a day) AND guess what? Her symptoms went away. She is a tea drinker now, and has gone a bit extreme on eating clean.
But please call and make an appointment. Most PCP's that are good take a bit of time to get in to see, and lot of them now have early am and late day appointments to work around work schedules.

I drink about 2 sodas a year, and never diet because I can't handle the fake sugar taste.

Ama, this isn't a "when can I fit this into my schedule" thing. It's a pick up the phone and see when the doctor can fit YOU into his/her schedule thing.
I'm a former neuro RN. I don't say, "Go to the doctor" lightly. And I don't go to the doctor easily, either. When I had symptoms like you describe, I was in my PCP's office the same day, and a neuro's within the week.
It took about 3 hours out of my life, and gave important info an peace of mind almost immediately.
Please don't be an ostrich.

Count me in the MS camp. I have MS and it was the trouble with your peripheral vision along with your other symptoms that made me think you need to go and have that ruled out.
