Waiting for callback from investigator- all twisted up inside

So, last night I was watching the news and they showed a composite drawing of a woman who had been found on a beach in SC. I gasped and said, "That looks like *dear friend of a close friend of ours*". I struggled with it all night... what to do, what to do. I compared the drawing to her FB profile and eyes, hairline, nose, mouth, haircolor all match. There's also a tat. I've only spent about an hour total with this person, so I didn't really know about her tats, if any. This AM, a faint memory came back of being on this person's screened porch and my friend pointing out the tat to me. So, I decided to go ahead and call the police in the beach town where this person was found. Of course, the investigator didn't answer, so I called back a few more times and, finally left a message with my #.

I'm praying that it's not her because her friends and family would be so heartbroken. And I'm just trying to keep my ship together so I can talk to this investigator- and I'm hoping she calls back sooner rather than later because this is ripping me apart.

Thanks and hugs back to y'all.

I'm still waiting for the call. I really struggled with whether to ask her friends about the tat, but I just didn't think that was the appropriate way to go. I'll just talk to the police and let them handle it. That way, if it's NOT her, they won't have to worry.

TIKY, the news here posted a picture of the tattoo on her leg that was VERY distinctive. I'm on my phone but could send you a link to the picture if you want.

Edited after I re-read your post to see you already knew about the tat. Sorry. I am sorry you are in that position.

Well, she didn't call me back, so I called back and left the info on her voice mail.

The first night, I couldn't really recall the tat, but then a faint memory crept in of being on her screened porch at dusk about ten years ago and another friend was pointing out the dolphins, but I was having trouble seeing them. Once that memory hit, I was truly conflicted. Right before I placed the first call, I was shaking uncontrollably and nauseous.

After I left the info this AM, I felt much better because I know that I did what was right and, hopefully, they'll be able to identify her and get in touch with her family. They found her a week ago today and I hate to think of someone just 'waiting' to be claimed like that.

It's not her!!!

I sent the Investigator some pics and she was able to determine pretty quickly that it's not her.

Still, it's very sad that she hasn't been identified, yet.
