is it possible for an infection to show up much later? Or do I need to go back for testing and/or what? My wh swears the last attempted contacts did not happen in real life (text/computer only) - I was tested in the fall. My dr. said nothing about further testing. And the sucky thing about all of this is it could just be a 'run of the mill' thing that happened - but NO, my world doesn't work like that anymore.

After my rape in 2001, they had me return at 4wks, 6wks, 8wks, 6mos, 12mos, and 18mos for testing (all were negative, thankfully). So, yes, infections can show up much later.

I would call your doctor. If you have a concern then you should be re-tested.

I'm not sure on all STD's but can't HPV lay dormant for about 15 to 20 years, something like that.

please don't be embarrassed - we are all here for the very same reasons

i got tested immediately after d-day and again 6-months later just to be sure - thank God everything came back clean - but I'm pretty sure anything that may have been transmitted would show up within 6 months

Or you can take the approach my STBXW did: "I don't think I have anything!"

We could translate that to, "I'm not feeling especially syphilitic today." What an idiot! Luckily, our tests came back clean.

And she teaches sex ed to Grade 8 students. I know that she knows better, but she is just arrogant enough to think that she can outsmart any of these STDs that dirty people get.

Divorced the cheater and living my best life now.
