Hello. My name is Dark Inertia. And I am an alt-a-holic. It has been 1 month since I made my last alt. I knew that I had hit bottom when I server transferred one of my favorite alts to another server, just for the looms to make another lock. My main is a lock. I have 3 locks one one server.

I told myself I would only do one more character, and started a priest because I wanted a different play style. Then I went shadow... then I abandoned her at level 89 with 57% more xp to go for a flashy shaman goblin (female, of course, because I love the Single Ladies dance).

I have been doing better. I have gone back to my main, my first beloved lock. Been working hard on my dailies, working the AH, PvP'ing here and there, focusing on my farm at Halfhill.

But that urge is getting to me again... that desire to make yet another alt... OMG, I have been thinking about making ANOTHER lock!! This time worse... a *gasp* Worgen.

Just need to stay strong. One day at a time. :)

Lmao. I quit WoW like 6 months ago and I think it might stick this time, been playing since vanilla. I had so many alts on multiple servers. My main was a mage though. You can fight the urge!! I believe in you!!

I am a guildaholic.

I created alts just so I could have more guilds. I can't have any more guilds unless I give up my alt for signing guild charters. I have so many guild bank tabs full of mats it is crazy.

When a couple of guildies got married IRL, I rolled my first female alt (because people will sign charters cheaper), and created a guild called Just Married. When they were finally married, I coordinated with the GM of my main's guild to have them kicked out so I could spam invites to them. They went on for two weeks of adventuring under the banner of Just Married.

NIK lol! I remember saying something similar to SO when he first started playing World of Warcraft...then he told me to sit down and he'd teach me...I surfaced years later .

I know I always t/j WoW talks with Animal Crossing, but I'm still hoping that someone out there is as psychotic over New Leaf as I am.

I did however use one of the guild banks to hold all the clothes for those attending the wedding. Surprising how many people could not manage to scrape up a tuxedo or a dress on their own.

Umm but jrazz WoW has dragons you can fly around on and farmville and pandas and different clothes to wear and different pets to collect. Oh also questing, fighting and occupations. I think you should cross to our side.

Seriously I've been tempted. The complexity of the system and the fact that I'd be YEARS behind everyone keeps me from ever starting.

I hate showing up late for the party, without beer or a ride home. I don't want to be THAT guy.

Oh newbies can jump in with no problem. Leveling isn't hard and its easy to learn the system as you level. Also you have a bunch of WoW people here who can answer your questions.

Every expansion wipes out the head start that the existing players have, because all of the purple gear everyone has fought so hard to acquire through raiding and PVP becomes obsolete in comparison to the greens and blues they collect on quests while leveling up to the new limit. To a lesser extent the same thing happens with each major patch as a new raid is introduced.

I went back for Wrath just as they were opening the penultimate raid, started a new character and had no problem becoming wealthier than most and topping DPS meters when I ran with some serious raiders. I also developed enough reputation that when a couple of our guys got jumped by a very serious Chinese guild outside ICC, I was the first one summoned, and had the pleasure of killing them all. It was a great help that I had full PVP gear with me, and our guys at the summoning stone were all healers.

Also, the thing you have to remember is that MMORPG's are usually designed to be played any way you want to. Nobody can finish the game, there is no real score that matters, so you define your own win.

So has anyone read the book "Ready Player One"? (Relevant, I promise)

Well, not so sure about the PVP kill. You would have to play on different factions, meaning you could not communicate in game. Also, PVP kills give you honor points (a type of currency used to buy PVP gear)instead of XP. It is easy to collect honor points in battlegrounds, especially Alterac Valley. Between my old hunter main, my tanking DK, and my panda shaman, I have almost 50,000 PVP kills.

If you do decide to play, you should choose the server carefully. Since they started sharing zones, the economy on most of the servers is fucked. The reason for this is because Blizztard effectively merged servers but feared the rumors about it being the end so they kept the old server names for capital cities and trade. In effect you can not trade with many you can quest with. Very flawed design considering one of the strengths of the game had been the internal economy. This is one of the reasons that I have not been rushing to get back into the game, and have spent so much time debating it.
