I work part time for a billing service. We try very nicely to try and get people to pay legitimate bills for services. So when someone calls and is irate because we called them and asked them to pay for those services. I get that they can be a bit ticked off at us. However, the fact remains that the bill is legitimate nonetheless.
So to those people that refuse to understand the obvious. Please acquaint yourselves with the following word and it's meaning.
Deductible:
In an insurance policy, the deductible is the amount of expenses that must be paid out of pocket before an insurer will pay any expenses.[1] In general usage, the term deductible may be used to describe one of several types of clauses (see below) that are used by insurance companies as a threshold for policy payments.
Your co-worker, doctor, mechanic,mother,sister-in-law, spouse , life partner, dog or cat,not even your priest is your insurance company. So f they tell you that you are not responsible to pay your deductible, they are wrong.
Case in point.....
One year ago a client told me he was told he did not have to pay because his co-worker said so. At the time his bill was 400 dollars and he refused to pay. His insurance dropped his claim and he recieved a bill for 4 thousand aqs part of the total bill. This client called me and told me i should have done something before it hit that much.
Idiot! I asked you to pay your 400 whenb it was due! You refused which sent it to collection and made your responsible for the entire amount because your insurance company dropped you. Had you paid it then or made payment arrangements then it never would have gotten back to the original bill of 4 thousand.
There is nothing i can do now because we don't own the debt any longer.
