This is just an addendum, but if NSAIDs help, there is a prescription one called Voltaren (I think someone else mentioned the cream topical version) and it -- the pill version -- is on the $4 list at many pharmacies. It's preferred by many docs because it's easier on the stomach than ibu and naproxen. So if you end up on long-term NSAIDs, you might want to see about switching, just to save your stomach lining a little aggravation.

Thank you all so much. I'll start on those exercises when I can withstand pain again. I got the Percocet today and will be taking my first one in 30 mins....so let me say good night now

Unagie, I have found that doing the exercises while IN pain has a beneficial effect. Breathe out a lot (i.e., don't hold your breath, which makes pain worse) and do 'em.
