Am I the only one who lobed those chocolates with the McDonald's coupon under. The wrapper? They were $1.00.

I have 2 kids in HS Band. Since the school systems around here do not fund the band, we have fundraisers nonstop during marching season. Pies and cases of pop at Christmas time, candles, cookie dough and the sausage & ham. PLUS, we run concession stands at different events and have a car show. Plus, there is an ongoing fundraiser, that I run, at one of the grocery store chains. We bring in about $400 a month from that fundraiser alone.
As for the fundraisers that the school itself does, nope! My kids didn't participate in them and all the neighborhood kids know that I will not buy for that but if it is for the performing arts... you betcha I will buy!

SH... I have no problem helping out the band... I willingly pay my $100 for the "fair share" program and volunteer my time.
They don't march in middle school so it's not as expensive.
Now in two years, in HS I'm sure it's going to be a lot more work/money for fundraising.

My opinion on school fundraisers changed when I spent a significant amount of money to support a band trip (band geek here) and afterwards, I found out they didn't even take their instruments. Essentially, they just went on a vacation. At that point, I decided I was done.
I decided I pay for my own kids' activities, I don't ask for other people to pay for them, so I don't feel an obligation to pay for others.
I'm genuinely a nice person, and very supportive of people/kids but I don't buy stuff.

I'm with you Unagie. I also love the boxes of chocolate covered almonds for $2.00.

meta...it's our swim team that sells meat. You order then you have to pick it up in the parking lot after practice on a designated day.
Okay, I just read what I typed and it sounds really shady.

This is the first year that I have no fundraisers to worry about.
Of course as t was typing this DD3(20) calls and wants to know if I will donate a basket for her sorority auction on parents weekend or I could do one for the honor society if I like?
I wonder - does it ever end?
