So I'm in a new position at a new school. Today, one of my colleagues decided to reem me out in front of students and other teachers over an administrative decision that was not even mine - in fact, he knew it wasn't mine and that I agreed with him.
In front of STUDENTS! I've seen him pull this bullshit before with much higher ups than me. He is just a jerk.
Ugghhh.. Tonight I'm staying in and watching movies. Tomorrow, watching a football game with a girlfriend and ordering pizza.

That sucks. I am sorry that happened to you.
Small comfort? The kids who witnessed it have been on the receiving end of verbal attacks themselves. They are watching you to see how you handled it, this I promise. We always tell kids to walk away, tell an adult, not to throw a punch or push... So you just had a teachable moment!!

He actually strikes me as someone that has a huge issue with authority so he probably doesn't do this with his students. I also suspect he has an issue with women.
Completely unimpressed with him

It is TOTALLY unprofessional to come down on you
A. Over something that was not even in your control
B. In front of students
Someone who gets off on doing that to someone is really insecure and they are to be pitied. Yes, we feel like kicking them in the a--, but in the end they are to be pitied.

while i am not a teacher, I had a co-worker do this to me once infront of the whole office.
The first time I was in absolute shock because I have always thought that repremands were done behind a closed door for professionalism sake.
The next time that he started in on me I turned it back around on him and explained that I was a grown woman in a professional job, and if he can't handle me in a professional manner then I was going to treat him the same as he treated me. The rest of the office pretty much agreed and it was the last time he ever went after anyone in front of the office.
He also didn't last long after that.
Stupid bullies.
