Doesn't necessarily have to be spanx either. Just google your size -
for me - 34DD very firm hold bodysuit.
Whalahhhhh - magic. It does hold it all in. And it does firm it all up.

I wore spanx with a new dress to a wedding a couple weeks ago. I felt FABULOUS! And got tons of compliments. It smoothed my bulges nicely.
I got the one with shoulder straps but I wore my own bra. I was very comfy. The trick is to go true to size. Don't try yo squeeze into a smaller size that nking you will look skinnier.

I wasn't going to try to go smaller, I'm deciding if I should go with what the size chart tells me or go one up.
Interestingly, I went to a friend's for dinner tonight and I was asking about Spanx (because isn't that what everybody talks about at a dinner party?
) and she had just gotten herself some. She got a small (size A I guess), though. She is tiny. They looked itty bitty. It looked like I was a B according to the size chart but I'm thinking I should get a C???
After all this overthinking, I better look damn good that night!
And thanks for all your help!
DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

I was going to say it doesn't have to be "Spanx" brand... there are a lot of brands that do the same thing.
I can't even remember my brand. I only wear it under two specific dresses, same dress - different colors.

I don't know about it not making you smaller - I'm in between regulation sizes right now and it does seem to pull me in so that I can get away with wearing the smaller size. But it's not meant to do that, no - it's supposed to smooth you out. And it works VERY well for that.
Maybe a little TOO well.

I love my Spanx! I go with the size chart. I have in the past tried the size smaller thinking it might shrink me....not fun.

I have one of those cute clingy dresses that hits my middle-aged self in those places, I wish it wouldn't.
I wanted to try something without investing much money just in case I didn't like it.
I found a spanx like product in Wallyworld (Walmart) for 15.96 and it worked like a charm. I even went back and bought a second one.
You will find them somewhere near the bra's, and that way you won't be out a great deal of money if you don't end up liking it.

Hmmmm....interesting completely opposite opinions.
If you haven't already gotten these, i would suggest that you do get them. I really love mine.
I bought the kind that goes down to my knee and up to my boobs. There is even a way to attach it to my bra to keep it from rolling down.
you really need to go with the size they suggest. They have it down to an art.
If you go to big, then you are not going to get the full use of the spanx, to small and you will sausage yourself.
If you are really worried, try on all sizes and then put your clothes back on. They will let you take the dress in as long as you have your reciept on you (at Kohl's anyway).
Don't rush it. Walk around, sit down, bend over....dance a little. You will want to feel comfy in every situation.

I agree with the bra line to knee version. Usually you can buy them at independently owned ladies clothing stores ie not a department store.

The brand at Target is Assets - by Sara Blakely. Sara is the founder of Spanx so she made a line for Target. It's about $22 and the quality isn't as good as Spanx but it'll do the job. I love my Spanx.
