I'm trying to write a parent evaluation form for DS to be evaluated for learning disorders.

This word is on the tip of my tongue and I just can't find it.

I'm trying to say he's well spoken, has a good vocabulary. What is that dang word?

It's not literate....but like that only with regards to speech...

So aggravating when I have a mental moment! Maybe I'm the one who needs the evaluation.

Nothing wrong with describing it as "well spoken with a good vocabulary"....

I can NEVER think of words that are hilariously ironic.

(I remember interviewing, and tripping up in the sentence where I was supposed to say I was good at communicating via phone for conference calls. TOTALLY garbled it! )

I was so focused on filling out this 16 page evaluation I totally missed the irony.

Well, the kids obviously more articulate than his mom.

I once called for take out and asked for a burger thing on bread.

The person on the other end said "a hamburger"?

Yes!! That's what I want.

I picture all the information I have stored in my brain this way... It is swirling around slowly through my skull. There is a pointer that hits the pieces of information that I need and brings them into my memory. Sometimes it takes awhile for the right piece of information to get in range of the pointer.

I picture all the information in my brain stored on those old library dewy decimal system small file drawers with rows of cards. I have to flit down a lot of cards to get to the one thing I was trying to remember...

My group of GF's laugh about this all the time.

We were at a craft retreat and she said "Can I borrow your liquid tape?"

Ummm....do you mean glue?

She did - and we all just laughed and laughed.

To this day we all refer to glue as 'liquid tape'.

You are in good company!

I have a word I can't remember also. Is it ok to hijack your thread?

In screen design, text fields can be pre-populated with grey help text. There is a one word noun for this text but damned if I can remember it.

I've asked our UX folks and the BAs but they have no idea.

Thanks NIK, but not placeholder text.

Only one word something like indefinite but that's not it. It was used in a style guide for screen standards I used at a job many, many moons ago.
