Where is Walter Concrite, Peter Jennings and some who didn't let you know how they felt about what they were reporting.

There are a couple of tv reporters I think are ok. Brett Bair and Shepard SMith on FOX. They just report the news. They don't make faces, changestheir voices-just the facts.

Agreed...We should have robots read the news.

I have a hard time with news now days. A lot of it is picked through and the stories chosen usually sensationalize someone elses tragedy.

We often forget that media organizations are there to MAKE MONEY. Need proof? Look at the CEO's or founders of many news organizations. They aren't doing too shaby.

I refuse to watch Brian Williams anymore. He acted like his total knee replacement was a fist time ever liver transplant from a monkey. Get over it dude, and that Freak "Dr" Nancy Sniderman - Botox much? Yah to the point that it has effected your ability to think.

I also hate the unprofessionalism that I see everyday on every network. When the Anchor hands off to another for an on the scene report, the reporter in the field, 9.5 times out of 10 will start their report with "Yah". Seriously. You went to school for this, and YAH is how you start your report???? I don't know if they are that dumb, or lazy.

It's disgusting either way.

I remember years ago after the Centennial Park bombing here in Atlanta during the Olympics one of the local anchors went "off-script" during her reporting. She got very teary eyed and looked into the camera and addressed the bomber directly. It was kind of a quiet rage on her part, but she was saying things like "how dare you come into *our* city and do this to *our* citizens" etc. It was only a minute or 2 long and made an impression, but it also made me realize why exactly they are trained to be so no-nonsense. You wouldn't want them to do that with every single story they report on, IMO.

Tush...I agree completely with you!! Brian Williams? The only that makes me realize he still has a beating heart is his love for animals.

Journalism just isn't what it was before. There is very little real reporting, even less investigation. Just regurgitation of press releases.

I totally agree with this. News is supposed to be reported, not editorialized. Reporters are supposed to be impartial, yet we see slanted stories all. the. time.

Oh and the News Voice that most reporters use is annoying as hell too.

If you want to use TV to get informed, you need to stay away from ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox, HLN, MSNBC. You can get some good reporting on PBS. You may not like a lot of what you hear, but you'll hear stuff you really need to be aware of.

All the rest is aimed at funneling eyeballs and ears into the great marketing machine that American business has turned into.

If you can get CBC, BBC, Deutsche Welle, French TV, so much the better.

Brian Williams actually is a terrific observer of the news; it's just that he can't be himself on NBC. Catch him on The Daily show or Colbert to see and hear the real Brian Williams.

The US has let itself get dumbed down. We have a member of the House of Representatives who stated publicly that we have 4 branches of government, and there's a bunch of people who believe Medicare is not a government program.

The loudest voice in our political discourse is now the voice of Ignorance, and too many of us are proud of our ignorance.

Totally agree with sisoon! It IS big business and all about ratings. So we see a lot of fake smiles, fake sad faces (when there is a story they are supposed to be concerned about but you can tell they don't care) and fake caring. And to get neutral news, I also try to listen to international broadcasts. The news here is slanted depending on who actually owns the broadcasts.

I've heard a newscaster actually say that. I wonder about the intelligence level of some of them.

I don't find news presentes fake. I find few presenters present the news. The tv seems to be filled up with opinion personalities and entertainers, as opposed to straight newsmen/women.

As someone else said, BBC is more news and so is Aljazeera, America.

I am pretty indifferent to news anchors, but I just recently had a bad experience with a local news anchor. My friend had posted on her FB a critique of a story she did. He was blunt, but no more harsh than a typical review. When I first read it I didn't think much of it.

Well, she responded and she went OFF. Insulted my friend's intelligence and insinuated that he was of poor character. I was shocked, and made a comment about professionalism. She went on to say that she was being attacked, and she has a right to defend herself.

By this time at least 3 other people responded saying that she reacted poorly to criticism, and as someone in the public eye and a local celebrity she should be more aware of the things that she says to people who help her ratings.

She responded with refusing to apologize, and she would stand by her words. And then she deleted all of her comments!! So much for standing by her words!

I am in the state capital, btw, so although she is a local celebrity i would say she is fairly well known.

Yes! And even worse is the regurgitation of Twitter feeds. There is a news program up here that does a segment on what's trending on Twitter. Seriously?
